Blitzboks off to winning start
25 Mar 2011
The Blitzboks beat Spain 33-5 in their first game at the Hong Kong Sevens on Friday.
In the Springbok Sevens’ only game of the day, they had an inconsistent performance against the European minnows. While it was a 28-point win, Paul Treu will be hoping for a better display on day two against Hong Kong and Wales.
The Blitzboks had a poor start to the game as Spain scored first through Carlos Blanco, but they managed to put together two tries through Paul Jordaan and Branco du Preez for a 12-5 lead at the break.
Spain were kept scoreless in the second stanza as South Africa sealed the game with three tries via Paul Delport and Cecil Afrika (2).
Blitzboks’ results, Day 1:
South Africa 33 Spain 5
