Easy to see the fans of which franchises shooting their mouths off here … the perrenial cellar dwellers the Lions and the Cheetahs along with the likes of the rugby genius Tackler. The insecurity that you will be upstaged on the Super rugby stage in 2013 by a team from the EC is really that intimidating? Check your teams boys, you might just have some of those players heading home. Kockott would rather start for the Kings than warm the bench for the Lions … Johnson, Floors … etc. etc. What wouldn’t the Cheetahs do for a lock like Duncan, who led them to their last trophy … but he is back at home, building something much bigger..

Uh, hello? Only two sentences before this, Solomon breathlessly describes ‘the magnificent Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’… Thanks taxpayer! The reality is that the Kings are nothing if not a government pet project. Now, of course, Solomon and co. should be lauded for their (undoubted) hard work at turning around the shambles that has been E.Cape rugby… Just call it what is: Sports socialism at it’s finest.

@Roar Loud(RL)-6: Nah, not that bad, just tired of hearing all the hype and rubbish about the Kings!! As lions supporter youshould know just as well, that to play in the Super 15 isn’t tiddly winks… Why should a province/franchise that went downhill through it’s own ineptitude and corruption, now be given a free ride over teams that had to wark the hard yards to get there…

And as a Lions supporter you can’t take for granted that your team is gaurenteed a place either!! It is unclear how SARU are going to handle the “hot coal” issue!!

Currently despite the massive improvements that Mitch, and the Gijima gang have made the Lions are still battling in the S15….

The Kings are battling to finish as competitive team in the VC, yet these wonkers are talking about “warrior spirit” blah blah blah!!

In addition, the idea was to harness the “unheard of black potential” in the region, yet all we see are discards and pensioners from the Premiership, and from the cheetahs, Lions, and Bulls…. with a smattering of ” black sevens pensioners”

Hardly what was promised!!

Not to be pessimistic, but no amount of talking the kings team up will change the fact that they will be slaughtered if they join super rugby in 2013.

Fact is as much as it grieves the die hard SA rugby fans, the EP Kings are still a shambles, they still can’t even make inroads in the Vodacom Cup…. A side wanting to knock down the door should be creamying the VC!!

Financial reality!! The Cheetahs had to play their way into Super rugby, and now have to market their brand, and get sponsorships!! The Bulls have tradition and history, and it helped them diddly squat!!

Screw this, let the Kings have the same benefit from SARU and the Gov, as what the Cheetahs and Lions, and everybody else got to make headway!!

I am tired of this EP Kings tradiotional, and “hotbed” of SA rugby 5h1t!!!!

I doubt this team could beat the Cheetahs or Griquas in the Currie Cup. They are just about on a par with the Pumas.

As with Natal in the old days the Kings need a couple of years in the trenches to earn their place amongst the big boys.

Please don’t take the affirmative easy gravy train route and skip all the hard work to jump the queue to the big league like your other brudders in the financial world. Like them you will also soon see your arse.
