Toulouse scoop Gurthrö
20 Apr 2011
Toulouse have announced that they have signed Gurthrö Steenkamp, Luke McAlister and Luke Burgess on three-year deals for 2012.
The current French Top 14 log leaders have increased the international pedigree in their squad for next season, with Springbok loosehead Steenkamp, All Blacks utility back McAlister and Wallabies scrumhalf Burgess all regular features for their respective nations.
Toulouse have also signed Fijian Timoci Matanavou (currently the form player in the French second division with 16 tries in 25 games for Stade Montois) on a two-year contract.

@mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-3: It’s not so much talent as it is experience that Aus is short on in the scrummies at the moment.
Nick Phipps was looking to take Burgess’ place in the Wallabies this year anyway, and honestly I’d take a scrapper like Brett Sheehan to the World Cup over him too. I have no place for a scrumhalf who can’t pass.
Next year will hopefully see the likes of Nic White and Ben Lucas get more time at Super level, and potentially a return to form for guys like Josh Holmes.
