Butch boost for Lions – Butch James will join the Lions as soon as next week.

The flyhalf was only expected to arrive in Johannesburg at a later stage, but it’s been confirmed that he will join the Lions in time for their tour to Australia and New Zealand which commences next weekend. James’ addition is a needed one, considering the poor form of the Lions (have lost 10 out of 11 games) and injury to centre Waylon Murray (ankle), who will not travel.

Hooker Bandise Maku, fullback Alwyn Hollenbach, prop Jacobie Adriaanse and flanker Derrick Minnie, who did not feature in the Lions’ 53-19 defeat to the Cheetahs on Friday, have also been included in the touring squad. The Lions will face the Brumbies (14 May), Waratahs (21 May), Highlanders (28 May) and Hurricanes (4 June) in the next four weeks on the road.
