SA latest – Smit linked to Saracens

Keo.co.za brings you news from South Africa’s Super Rugby franchises.

Smit linked to Saracens – Springbok captain John Smit is likely to join English club Saracens after the 2011 World Cup.

According to Sport24, Smit will link up with Saracens later this year, a club that has a strong South African presence in terms of the playing squad and administration. The move is yet to be confirmed, but if there is substance to the rumour, Smit would continue to alternate between prop and hooker. Saracens already have the dynamic Schalk Brits on their books.

Bash boost for Stormers – Peter Grant has recovered from a knee injury and will be available for selection when the Stormers play the Chiefs in Hamilton.

Bryan Habana is also expected to be fit after missing last week’s game with a rib injury. Jaque Fourie (groin), prop CJ van der Linde (leg) and flank Nick Koster (ribs) picked up injuries in Saturday’s match, and will undergo further tests before being considered.

Stormers touring squad – CJ van der Linde, Deon Fourie, Brok Harris, Rynhardt Elstadt, Andries Bekker, Schalk Burger, Francois Louw, Duane Vermeulen, Ricky Januarie, Peter Grant, Bryan Habana, Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie, Gio Aplon, Conrad Jantjes, Tiaan Liebenberg, Wicus Blaauw, De Kock Steenkamp, Nick Koster, Dewaldt Duvenage, Anton van Zyl, Juan de Jongh, Lionel Cronjé, Johann Sadie, Steven Kitshoff.

Surely JS bank account after the WC will be big enough to call it a day.

How much more does he want to suck out of the game ??

Surely he owes it to SA to give back, why not get involved in development initiatives in SA, in a coaching or admin role ??? , geez, the feeding at the trough knows no end !!!!

Good luck to you, Barney, over there in little SA.

And please tell Schalk Brits that Mr Gumede will now see him in his office. And tell him to bring that Mourits Botha fella along. Don’t worry, they’re not in trouble.

    Piss off.

Smit is going to enjoy it over there and no doubt they’re going to enjoy his rugby skills and leadership. Any bets on how many days it will take for him to cement his position as captain..

When is Goldenballs Gumede going to get his CHEQUEBOOK out?

  • 10.>^..^< katman: Reply to this comment

@gunther(gunther)-9: He shouldn’t have to. He’s a PDI. Surely the government must pay, together with the Lotto. Lions are black owned now. We want nationalisation and we want it now. Plus we want jobs there. And we want Jaque Fourie back. This is not a joke. We’ll bring SA rugby to its knees.

He is chasing the money , always has, always will, 2nd book due soon as well !!

He has already had his time making euros, did not last because he could not cement a place as a No 2 at Clemont, they tried to play him prop , that did not work, they were seemingly happy to see him go, oh yes he did not captain that side either.

Oh yes smit did not play on Sat and they won !!!! ………………….again !!!

So you piss off twat !!

your biggest problem seems to be service delivery from your scrumhalf to your fly-half.

couple that with a tight five guilty of racist white imperialist tendencies and a back three that are puppets of colonialst powers as well as a coach who is clearly a bloody agent with rubbish in his pants and you have a serious problem.

The only answer is a move to The Anthony Yengeni Stadium in Soweto and then send the entire squad to Cuba for political re-education.

The top 3 SA teams could all do better without their captains. Strauss doing well for the Cheetahs. Not sure who is even captain for the lines, but they could do with 15 new players, so must be **** as well.

You and grant10 and your obsession with Luke Twatson. Tsk tsk! The Stalkers Club of Brokeback

Watch this space speedo boys…he will be captain. Some South Africans don’t like France and prefer the UK so Smit had a look and decided it wasn’t for him I’m guessing.

That he wasn’t a captain in The Sharks team that beat a kakka team is a really weak argument. He has a RWC medal. This boy is a natural leader and comes across as a nice chap with an intelligent head on his shoulders. He is going places and success clearly follows him wherever he goes.

You need help. This is compulsive obsessive behaviour..

These clowns are priceless … do not pass begin, do not collect R200 … go straight to development rugby and give something back. Not everyone, just you John Smit because you are just an evil greedy man!!!

Joost, no problem, “v0k maar voort”, right books be a presenter, make money; Justin Marshall, make money out of European rugby and become a presenter … but John smit, you terrible terrible man … you must take 50 lashes and do community service for the rest of your life!!!!!

Like Saracens would play Smit in place of Schalk Brits…LOL

    Smit please f o k off!

Sharks lose when you play and captain them. Great win without him on the weekend.

  • 27.Pekkie: Reply to this comment

Surely John Smit has done enough in his career not to warrant this continuous attack. Just leave the poor oke alone now.

cancer is a funny type of disease, once you identify it it tends to grow and spread, unless you able to root it out at the core it will always be there dogging your every step. John shouldn’t have made himself susceptible to cancer because now it seems its stuck to him like a bad infection and he can’t seem to rid himself of it, who knows perhaps it was even festering all the while where nobody were quite willing to look and take note. Its often the log in your own eye is far greater than the mote in your enemies.
