Matfield benched - Victor Matfield will play off the bench in Saturday’s match against the Rebels.

Fourie du Preez captains the side, with Danie Rossouw starting at lock. In other changes, Dewald Potgieter returns after an injury lay-off and starts at blindside flank. Bjorn Basson and Gerhard van den Heever replace Akona Ndungane and Francois Hougaard on the wings.

Grant back for Stormers – Peter Grant will start at pivot for the Stormers’ first tour game against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Saturday.

The flyhalf has been sidelined for the last two weeks, but now replaces Lionel Cronjé in the No 10 jumper. Cronjé drops to the reserves.

Other changes to the run-on side sees Bryan Habana back at wing in place of Johann Sadie, while scrumhalf Ricky Januarie is promoted ahead of Dewaldt Duvenage. Tighthead prop Brok Harris also comes in for the injured CJ van der Linde.

Jantjies gets another go – Flyhalf Elton Jantjies returns to the Lions’ starting line-up for their clash against the Brumbies in Canberra on Saturday.

Jantjies has sat on the bench in the last couple of games after struggling at Super Rugby level. Head coach John Mitchell has decided to give the 20-year-old another run, which sees Burton Francis drop to the bench.

Mitchell has also made a host of other changes to his team.

In the backline, Alwyn Hollenbach comes in for skipper Doppies la Grange while scrumhalf Jano Vermaak is rotated with Rory Kockott.

Amongst the forwards, Josh Strauss takes over as captain and shifts to No 8 while flanker Michael Rhodes and Derick Minnie are promoted ahead of Warren Whiteley and Cobus Grobbelaar, who drop to the wood.

Hooker Bandise Maku and tighthead prop Pat Cilliers replace Edgar Martutlulle and Kevin Buys in the front row respectively.

One change for Cheetahs - A hamstring injury has ruled Philip Burger out of the Cheetahs’ match against the Crusaders.

The wing is the only player missing from the Cheetahs’ starting side that whipped the Lions last weekend. Rayno Benjamin takes his place, with Riaan Smit moving to the right wing.
