Boishaai stun Grey at home

Paarl Boys’ rebounded from a 15-5 deficit to draw 15-15 against Grey College in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

It may not have been a victory, but it must’ve felt like one for the Cape side. They were the underdogs heading into the clash against one of the strongest schools in the country. And after being 10 points down midway through the first half, it seemed an expected defeat was on the cards.

However, Paarl fought back and made it 15-12 at half-time. A second-half penalty was enough to claim a well-deserved draw as a stern defence kept the hosts scoreless after the break.

After a 16-16 stalemate against Selborne last weekend, this will be a disappointing result for Grey. While not a lot was not expected from this current crop of players this year, they proved they could do well with nine consecutive victories from the start of the season. Their mettle will be tested in the coming weeks, which include fixtures against Affies, Grey PE, Glenwood and Paul Roos.

The match against Affies will be a big game, considering both teams are still undefeated this season.
