Keo.co.za brings you news from Australia’s Super Rugby franchises.
Barnes fit to tour SA – Despite suffering a third concussion, Berrick Barnes will join the Waratahs on their tour to South Africa this week.
The pivot has spent more than a month on the sidelines because of repetitive head injuries, but feels the last concussion wasn’t as serious as the first two.
‘I came good last night really, more so than anything, I know that’s a positive thing,’ Barnes said. ‘I’m not as dizzy or crook as I have been in past times, that’s great. The doctor who looked after me last night was the guy I’d been to see for the past few months with it all and he’s pretty confident, which is helpful.’
The Waratahs will face the Sharks and Bulls on the road. Barnes isn’t expected to be fit for the game in Durban, but will be examined for the match against the defending champions. A call will be made at a later stage.
Elsom concern for Brumbies – Wallabies skipper Rocky Elsom injured his ankle in Saturday’s draw with the Force and could miss the next game against the Stormers.
Elsom will undergo scans on Monday to determine the seriousness of the injury. Coach Tony Read suggested that scans may reveal the worst and that Elsom’s season may be over.
Saturday marked Elsom’s return to Super Rugby after he missed the earlier rounds with a hamstring injury.

Sharks dont have it easy either. Looking at games coming up my top 6 call at this stage would be:
1)Reds
2)Stormers
3)Blues/Crusaders
4)Crusaders/Blues
5)Highlanders
6)Bulls

waratahs will be a massive challenge for the sharks….
sharks better get the team spirit up….this really is now make or break…
sharks and bulls lose this weekend we may only have stormers fighting for a top 6 berth.
big weekend for both bulls, shrka and stormers….I am petrified of CANBERRA!

@grant10(grant10)-4: Agreed. Canberra’s never been too friendly despite the Brumbies being so shite this year.
Have heard a shocking rumour that because of the Ruan Pienaar deal falling through, the Stormers are now looking at a 6 week deal with Derrick Hougaard

There is no doubts the win against the Blues for the Stormers has been huge, the chances are if they lost they would have lost to either Rebels or Brumbies and the Bulls at home…

@Rhys7(Rhys7)-9:
Now I think they will win against the Brumbies and the season will be turned around
By far the biggest test of Stormers is Bulls now after their smashing of the sharks, got to say if the Stormers can do it at Loftus then they have to do it at newlands

Tahs are gone this season – too many injuries. Without Barnes this weekend they will lack direction. Their pack isn’t too bad (only missing a couple) but their back line is a mess with Barnes, Horne and Michell absent.
They will struggle next week at altitude also.
Have your say
