Gimmies, Paul Roos seek redemption
27 May 2011
Paarl Gym and Paul Roos will be desperate to add a win to their disappointing year this weekend when they take on Wynberg and SACS respectively.
Paarl Gym suffered their a biggest upset of the year so far last weekend when they were beaten 34-19 at home by the Cape’s surprise package Rondebosch. The defeat was the former’s fifth out of nine games this season.
However, Gimmies will be confident of beating Wynberg, who have already lost to Rondebosch (18-15), Grey PE (51-10) and Boland Landbou (15-5) from their four matches in 2011.
Paul Roos have also been poor this season, losing four games already. Their 16-12 loss to Oakdale in Riversdale was one of the surprise results on the schools circuit last Saturday. They’ll be on the road again this weekend, but will face an easier opponent in SACS.
In another big clash, Bishops will host the challenging Boland Landbou. The former have been running well in the Cape and their 68-27 thrashing over SACS will be a big confidence booster.
