Bishops on a roll
3 Jun 2011
Bishops will want to make it four wins in a row when they travel to Wynberg Boys’ this weekend.
Bishops are one of the in-form teams in the Cape after a hat-trick of wins over Tygerberg (30-27), SACS (68-27) and Boland Landbou (36-24) over the last three weeks. Their last defeat came against Paarl Boys’ (28-15) on 7 May. They now face an inconsistent Wynberg team, who will have the advantage of home turf.
In other action, Paarl Gym will aim for back-to-back wins when they host Boland Landbou while Rondebosch Boys’ will look to run better against Drostdy after being thumped at home against Boishaai.
WP fixtures:
De Kuilen vs SACS
Wynberg vs Bishops
Paarl Gym vs Boland Landbou
Rondebosch vs Drostdy
DF Malan vs Strand

Unrelenting consistency and more 80 (or 70) minute performances are required in order for Bishops to crack number 1 in South Africa. Definitely powerful enough for that to happen.

Bishops, at best, should be aiming to crack a top 5. They never have consistently been able to beat the likes of Affies and Grey College … and those two set the standard in South Africa.

Yes, well the past decade has been their best since the late 70′s and early 80′s. It’s just that some lame performances against the likes of Parow, Tygerberg, Bellville have undermined their charge for number one. Then there were occasions where they dominated the likes of Grey, Gym and Boishaai only to chuck these matches away in the last quarter. Infuriating.
Paul Roos, though, have become our bunnies!
