Fiji have included 13 locally-based players in an initial 43-man World Cup squad named on Saturday.
The squad was picked after a series of trial matches in the Fijian capital of Suva. Seven players that are currently injured or unavailable will be added at a later date to bring this World Cup preparation squad to 50 players.
The final squad will be trimmed to 30 players, although it remains unclear how many of these will be affected by travel sanctions New Zealand imposes ont members of Fiji’s military and their families.
