Taute manged to draw two players, take both out of the play, unload the ball to the player in space and still stay on his feet in support. You cant teach that. He does need lesson on his brainfarts he gets sometimes when he drops the ball dead cold.

Unlucky fringe players are Johnson, Lambie, Vermeulen and Sarel Pretorius.

They were messed around and weren’t allowed to grow in their position. Right now, they aren’t the best in respective positions because of that and thats why I say we need to manage and look after the special talents. Pienaar and Steyn are good players but they are not the best in their positions because of how they were managed and I guess to some fault of their own as well.

Cronje has time to develop but he should’ve developed earlier considering he was the best u20 player 2 years ago when Lambie & Jantjies were in the same squad! This again is just a case for better management and nurturing for our players

alot of players left at home that i think could form a v good RWC squad too, but we’ve seen SA think theyve had depth before only for their 2nd stringers to get plastered. I do think though that this is the strongest SA rugby has ever been since readmission.

As for Keo’s bolter on Sadie, i’d rather go with Rob Ebersohn.

Its not as simple as picking 2 players in position for 30 man squad.Its the right dynamic chosen

-a loosefwd/lock utility fwd which reduces need for an extra lock or loosie
-a utility back who can cover 10/12/15-which reduces need for 2 extra wing cover

I don’t see how Steyn, Cronje & Pienaar have ‘lost their brilliance’. Francois Steyn is a fullback out and out. He plays instinctively, and has a monster boot. His skill set is perfectly suited to fullback. He takes too many ‘risks’ to be playing at 10.

Ruan Pienaar is still an excellent player. He was never going to be able to continue making multiple linebreaks every game for his entire career. Players are ‘figured out’, get worn out, and lose that extra split second of speed needed to do that when they near the 30 mark. Fourie du Preez is the best 9 to ever play the game in my opinion because he overcomes that by being really really smart.

And Lionel Cronje… he is still a kid. He’s what, 22? He needs to mature. He’s been terrible playing S14 rugby. He played terribly against the Blues before going off injured (two of his mistakes resulting in 14 points for the Blues). I can only hope that he’s got the desire to be as good as he can be. Sometimes when play speeds up, and the guys running at you are bigger and stronger, the self confidence & determination isn’t always there.

But thats what we seem to breed here in SA, alot of young special talents… Its up to coaching and management to nurture and grow these exeptional talents into world number 1′s in their respective positions!

I see guys like Frans Steyn, Lionel Cronje and Ruan Pienaar to an extent and it sucks that we let such special players lose their brilliance!

But then again… its all the extra special players that step over any obstacles and find their way back to the top!

I look forward to the coming years of SA rugby as long as SARU administrators don’t stuff things up…

Rather have him compete in the CC first. He’s only played in a strong team with momentum, so he has to experience playing in a depleted WP team first.
With the Bok team already settled for some time now, I’d be careful to take away a spot from the small squad allowed for the World Cup, for a ‘Wild Card’. It may upset the team dynamic.

Agree I posted on here 2 years ago that he is a special talent, also mentioned that with the depth of centres at the Stormers /Province set up, that the Sharks with their centre woes should of approached him.

Again we will really only know how good he is once he has played a full S15 and the opposition have had time to work him out, I think he will survive the acid test and go on to become a superstar !!

whenever he scores a try, the opposition spend twice as long as the usually do under the poles for the simple reason….they are still waiting for his arse to arrive and cross the line. And only then….can the kicker start lining up.

hell, last week against the sharks…..I’m sure I saw bismark taking a call from someone on a cell.

And, at only 21, Jaco Taute has had two very impressive seasons in a struggling team. Even if you only look at this year’s Super 15, he’s done far more than Sadie (who looks to be one for the future) to warrant a Bok look-in. By this I mean all-round contribution, not just a handful of sniping runs.

I rate Taute, but when I talk bolter I talk about an exceptional talent and Sadie is this talent.
