Dawie Theron has made nine changes to his team for their next group fixture against Ireland on Tuesday.
Most of the changes are up front as the Baby Boks will field a new front row of props John Roy Jenkinson and Stephan Kotze, and hooker Micheal van Vuuren. Skipper and No 8 Arno Botha leads a new-look loose trio of flankers Cornell du Preez and Nizaam Carr while lock Ruan Venter also slots in the second row.
In the backline, scrumhalf Lohan Jacobs will make his fourth SA U20 appearance while outside centre Bradley Moolman and wing Courtnall Skosan start out wide.
Head coach Theron explained the changes were made to ensure that all the players received game time as the tournament progresses.
‘We’ve made quite a number of changes to our starting line-up for this match, but with the structure and format of the tournament, it’s going to be vital that teams have 22 players fresh and ready for a further four matches which is played every fourth day,’ said Theron.
‘It’s going to be important to see how this team selected for the Ireland game adapts to the pressures of the Junior World Championship. It’s going to be a great chance for the guys who didn’t get a hit out against Scotland to put their hands up for selection for the remaining matches.’
