SA latest – Jean wings it for Stormers

Keo.co.za brings you news from South Africa’s Super Rugby franchises.

Jean wings it for Stormers – Juan de Jongh will start at No 12 against the Cheetahs while Jean de Villiers will shift to the wing.

Other changes to the backline see Dewaldt Duvenage and Peter Grant starting at halfback, and Gio Aplon moving to fullback. Ricky Januarie is unavailable because of a hand injury.

The only change to the pack sees Tiaan Liebenberg starting at hooker.

Stormers – 15 Gio Aplon, 14 Jean de Villiers, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Juan de Jongh, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Peter Grant, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Francois Louw, 6 Schalk Burger (c), 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Rynhardt Elstadt, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 Wicus Blaauw.
Subs: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 Anton van Zyl, 19 Nick Koster, 2o Louis Schreuder, 21 Johann Sadie 22 Conrad Jantjes.

Bulls to start Bakkies, Chiliboy – Bakkies Botha and Chiliboy Ralepelle are the only changes made to the Bulls run-on side for their clash against the Sharks in Pretoria on Saturday.

Botha replaces Flip van der Merwe in the second row while hooker Ralepelle gets a start ahead of Gary Botha. Ralepelle is set to face fellow Springbok No 2 Bismarck du Plessis in what will be a closely watched battle up front.

Bulls – 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Gerhard van den Heever, 13 Jaco Pretorius, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Morne Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies, 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Victor Matfield (c), 4 Bakkies Botha, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling.
Subs: 16 Gary Botha, 17 Rossouw de Klerk, 18 Flip van der Merwe, 19 Danie Rossouw, 20 Fourie du Preez, 21 Francois Brummer, 22 Akona Ndungane.

Butch made to sweat - Butch James will have to wait another day to hear the outcome of his citing hearing.

James faced a hearing on Wednesday after he was cited for a dangerous tackle on Sharks flank Keegan Daniel during a Super Rugby match in Johannesburg last Saturday.

Sanzar judicial officer Rob Stelzner is considering the evidence and arguments and his finding is expected to be announced on Thursday.

Hougaard on Stormers’ radar – The Stormers are looking to replace Ricky Januarie with Bulls and Springbok scrumhalf Francois Hougaard.

Januarie will leave the Stormers to take up a two-year contract with French club Lyon, and so the Stormers are hoping that Hougaard will fill the gap. While he made a name for himself at the Bulls, Hougaard went to school in the Western Cape and made his provincial debut for Western Province.

The Bulls have denied being approached by the Stormers, and claim Hougaard is contracted until 2012.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are looking to contracting Johann Sadie for the 2012 season. The Stormers already have a number of centre options, but Sadie’s ability to play wing could see him starting regularly for the Cape side in 2012.

Sadie is also currently contracted at the Stormers until the end of next season.

    Much stronger backline
Only problem with JdV at #14 is Dusts Rugby Axiom # 24
Jean de Villiers cannot kick, but apart from that he’s the best #12 on the planet

AC showing some gumption at last by dropping Jantjes. And, at long last, Sadie makes a reappearance, albeit off the bench.
Now that you’re starting to make changes,AC can we please have Sadie in a starting position next time?
In place of Bryan, that is. Thank you.
