Keo.co.za brings you news from Australia’s Super Rugby franchises.
Macqueen to leave Rebels - Rod Macqueen’s tenure with the Rebels has lasted just one season.
In a news release the former Wallabies World Cup winning coach said he would stand down as Rebels coach at the end of the season. He will be replaced by his assistant Damien Hill.
He will, however, remain with the Rebels as director of coaching until the end of next season and said succession was always part of the plan.
‘Damien is very respected by peers and players alike, and he strongly reflects the culture that we are endeavouring to build at the Rebels,’ said Macqueen. ‘I believe in what the club stands for and I am determined to do what I can to ensure that these formative years lay a foundation for a truly great club and business. We have the most important ingredient, quality people, now we must realise our full potential.’
Brumbies bolstered - The return of Josh Valentine and Ita Vaea has strengthened the Brumbies for their match against the Brumbies in Sydney on Saturday.
Valentine has recovered from injury and plays off the wood, while Vaea starts after serving a suspension. Nic White and Sam Carter make way for them. It will be skipper Matt Giteau’s last game for the team before he leaves for Toulon.
