Hernandez misses Pumas camp – Flyhalf Juan Martin Hernandez is recovering from a knee injury and will miss Argentina’s World Cup preparation camp,

Having undergone knee surgery, Hernandez will rest up at his French club Racing Metro instead of joining the Pumas squad. While he will miss the preparations, he is expected to link up with the team in time for the tournament itself.

‘Later on we’ll evaluate along with the medical staff how his recuperation is progressing to see if he is fit to be called up,’ coach Santiago Phelan said.

The Pumas have a warm-up against a South America XV on 6 August and a Test match against Wales in Cardiff on 20 August. The group of 39 will be trimmed to 30 by that point.

    With the Pumas joining the Tri Nations in 2012, is there any move to bring their players into the Super15 so that they don’t have to worry about European club season commitments?

    @Frik(frikodel)-3:

    The IRB have moved the test window meaning nations can call up players from during the French club season.

    It will be difficult to convince Argentine players to move to the S15 given the disparity in salaries offered between the NH and SH (save for a few exceptions).
