Baby Boks name final team

Dawie Theron has made four changes to his SA U20 team to face Fiji in the 5th-place play-off at the Junior World Champs in Treviso on Sunday.

All changes are made to the pack as head coach Theron has selected a new front row of props Jon Roy Jenkinson and Juan Schoeman, and hooker Bongi Mbonambi. Flanker Nizaam Carr also finds a starting spot with Francois Kleinhans dropped to the bench.

This is arguably the run-on side that should’ve faced England in the final group fixture last weekend, one they lost 26-20 which cost them a spot in the semi-finals. The Baby Boks will play their last tournament game at 14:00 on Sunday.

Baby Boks – 15 Ulrich Beyers, 14 Tshotsho Mbovane, 13 Jaco Taute, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Wandile Mjekevu, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Pieter Rademan, 8 Arno Botha (c), 7 Cornell du Preez, 6 Nizaam Carr, 5 Eben Etzebeth, 4 Jean Cook, 3 Jon Roy Jenkinson, 2 Bongi Mbonambi, 1 Juan Schoeman.
Subs: 16 Michael van Vuuren, 17 Nick Schonert, 18 Carl Wegner, 19 Francois Kleinhans, 20 Lohan Jacobs, 21 Paul Jordaan, 22 Courtnall Skosan.

    Siya Kolisi only missing starter at 7

    Would hav like to see Mbovane in at 13

    Taute was terrible on defense vs England-wade went through him so easily.was dissapointing from player with superrugby experience

    Carr is brilliant.

    Kolisi is at cover for Stormers. Mbovane can play centre too; so can Mjekevu who was a star schoolboy’s centre at KES. Not sure about Taute who, with Super Rugby experience, should have done better last week. Carr has an impressive work-rate. You’d think the ball follows him around.

    IRB will have to change the format next year. SA should at least be in the position to contest 3rd/4th.

    @Melch

    Yeah I remember Mbovane at 13 for WP schools, excitement machine.I saw Mjekevu at 13 for KES & Lions juniors..He has a phenomal skillset as a centre on attack-had a problem of front on D though but he is a natutal-needs more ball.Has put on plenty of size as well, still only 20-stands at 193cm as well.hope he returns to centres in latter years of career. But he is going to be at star, would do well at WP as Lions/Mitchell isn’t interestd.Keep Sadie at 13,De Jongh 12,and Mjekevu at 11…future Boks

    Lions must snap up that Mjekevu, he’s a natural athlete, not sure about his heart, but definitely must stay at the Lions.

    @mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-3: Bollocks mate he missed 1 tackle. How about Skosan????

    I do agree on Mbovane, forget wing play him at 13. He one the best rugby players to come out of South African rugby in years. He is a legend in the making.

    You cannot leaqve out South Africas best Ebersholm. He has made the Cheethas backline come alive.

    Tshotsho was great, he should have played before Skosan. He is a center but Tshotsho at wing is not a bad option in his first U20. tshtsho knows how to take a try opportunity. That lack of killer instinct cost them against England barr Englands great scramble defence.

    The Babyboks had enough in the tank to win the England game. I was impressed with the attacking play. We should have finished them off. Poor finishing cost the babyboks.
