McLeod called into Bok squad
29 Jun 2011
Charl McLeod has replaced Ricky Januarie in the Springboks’ preliminary World Cup squad.
Januarie announced his international retirement last week, paving the way for the Sharks’ scrumhalf to be drafted into the squad.
The 49-man group will undergo medical assessments in Cape Town from 5-8 July, which SA Rugby said in a press release would ‘assist in selection for the Tri-Nations.’
Stormers players will not attend if their team is involved in the Super Rugby final.

Fair enough but Aplon is unlike Terblanche as he didnt play top flight 15′s rugby until 2007 and then had a 2 yr hiatus where he played 7′s which is less physically demanding. He has had no major injuries throughout his career and has maintained most importantly his speed. His body simply hasnt been put through the rigours of a player his age who would have close to 10 yrs experience and collision effects on body.

@Sasuke(Sasuke)-51: He has, but in place of who? Muller perhaps? Maybe….

@stormersboy(stormersboy)-53: Ja maybe in place of Muller. I dont get the Muller selection. maybe experience? Although we have tons of it in the squad. Maybe PDV is trying to bring together Jake’s Winning Team of 2007??

@Sasuke(Sasuke)-54: hard to say hey?
I think Johan has had a good season, by all accounts, but it’s a bit out of the blue for me too.
I think that he’d be unlikely to make the touring squad anyway, but ja, an odd selection.

Same goes for Pretorius’ body, to an extent.
How many seasons of Super Rugby has he played?

Normally I would be punching McCleod right now laying into him and calling him a 2 step sloth who is only slightly better than fat Ricky – no that doos Reyneke was up to his worst on the depressing thread.

Mcloud and not Pretorius? Jeez, if you never had question marks over the selectors/coaches in SA, you surely do now.
Muller, BJ……average CC players IMO
Jacobs, a has been quota
and I don’t get the obsession with Flip vd Merwe? What he ever done on a rugby park ?
Plonkers!

saru denied his request for a formal sit-down mid-morning and mid-afternoon ‘snack’, they thought a 3 course snack is way overboard…

Jacobs, Jantjies, Ndungane, Muller, Hargreaves = 1 April joke?
Kirchner, Olivier, Stegmann, Greyling, Strauss = waisting time and money. Too many other preferred choices from PdV and his useless “selectors”. Stegmann has a small chance as fetcher now that Burger is out for a while.
Unlucky players are S Pretorius and K Daniel may replace Burger.
