Keo.co.za brings you news from the Currie Cup.
Catrakilis at pivot for WP – Demetri Catrakilis will start at flyhalf for Western Province when they play against the Leopards on Friday night.
Coach Allister Coetzee has made a number of changes, with the promotion of Catrakilis injury-enforced. Catrakilis comes in for Gary van Aswegen, while Isma-eel Dollie moves to the bench.
WP – 15 Conrad Jantjes, 14 Danie Poolman, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Tim Whitehead, 11 JJ Engelbrecht, 10 Demetri Catrakilis, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Nick Koster, 7 Siya Kolisi, 6 Rohan Kitshoff, 5 De Kock Steenkamp, 4 Hilton Lobberts, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Deon Fourie, 1 Wicus Blaauw.
Subs: 16 Tiaan Liebenberg, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 Adriaan Fondse, 19 Nick Fenton-Wells, 20 Louis Screuder, 21 Isma-eel Dollie, 22 Marcel Brache.
Pretorius blow for Bulls – Centre Jaco Pretorius will be out of action for at least six weeks with a groin injury.
Pretorius sustained the injury in Saturday’s loss to the Sharks, and while there is no set timeframe for his return, he is expected to be sidelined for the first half of the Bulls’ campaign.
Stefan Watermeyer (hip), Stephan Dippenaar (groin), Gerhard van den Heever (ankle), Gary Botha (neck) and Rossouw de Klerk (neck) all missed training on Monday because of injuries, but are expected to be ready for the next game against the Cheetahs.

So, who did the Bulls lose: Kruger, Gunthro, Greyling, Rallepelle, Bakkies, Matfield, Rossouw, Flip, Stegmann, Spies, Hougaard, FDP, Morne, WO, Basson – 15 players to in the bok cause\injuries
Sharks: Beast, Smit, Bismarck, Jannie, Hargreaves, Mostert, Kanko, Alberts, Deysel, McLeod, Lambie, ADI, Mvovu, JPP, Odwa – 15 players
WP: Aplon, Habana, Jean, Jacques, Juan, Schalk, Bekker, CJ, \ Vermeulen and Flo to injuries – 10 players
One thing is for sure, if you look at this weekends CC results, one of those teams stand head-and-shoulders above the rest when it comes to player depth. Where are all those people that say Rudoplh Strauli is an idiot?

Cheetahs out due to Bok duty/Injury/retired: Coenie, Strauss, Juan, Brussow, Johnson, Steenkamp, Viljoen, Ebersohn, Floors, vd Walt, and Nokwe! They will still b a handful come the match vs the Bulls! Seems Lions are the least affected!

@coma(coma)-2: Hmmm… a number of those Bulls and Sharks players are no longer Sharks and Bulls players. If they weren’t in the bok team, they’d already be overseas preparing for their Euro-teams.

@Bouts(Bouts)-4: … or retired.

That is true too, will be interesting to see what the probable teams for next year will look like, considering the confirmed signings of the Boks etc.
Cheetahs should still have the bulk of their players unless Brussow signs with another union.
Lets see Bulls will lose Bakkies, Matfield, Guthro and Fourie du Preez?
Sharks: Smit, and Mostert?
WP: Flouw and CJ

@Bouts(Bouts)-4: Jirre, jy kan kak praat jong !
Exactly two of those Sharks players listed are no longer Sharks. The same number of WP players listed there that will no longer be playing for WP.
I don’t know which team you support, but I think the point coma is trying to make here is that the Sharks have also been affected by Springbok call up, but have clearly planned for it the best, yet when the chest beating about depth starts on here it is always WP and the Bulls that have the best succession planning according to their fans.
Problem with WP/Stormers is, they are opportunistic, compulsive shoppers (Rassie is like one of those women that have to buy a bargain when they see it, even if they have 20 of those things already) – they will take anything that comes onto the market that has an average/big name, even if they know they will upset the 3 brilliant youngsters they have coming through the ranks playing/hoping/praying for that jersey.
Can you imagine the lighty that has been sitting telling his parents how he will be the next WP Nr 6 with a twinkle in his eye…..what do you think he thinks now when his union goes after Heindrich Brussouw ? Good luck !
