Southwell blow for Scots – Fullback Hugo Southwell has been ruled out of Scotland’s World Cup campaign due to a knee injury.
Southwell sustained the injury in May and has failed to recover. Coach Andy Robinson said he won’t be ready for the tournament in New Zealand.
‘Hugo has been working hard to recover from a knee injury but has not been able to take a full part in our training camp and while he may be fit to resume playing in mid-late August both Hugo and I have decided that he will not be part of our World Cup plans,’ said Robinson.
Scotland’s World Cup squad will be announced on 22 August.
