Currie Cup latest – Bulls receive Vermaak boost

Keo.co.za brings you news from the Currie Cup.

Bulls receive Vermaak boost – Jano Vermaak will join the Bulls earlier than expected and is available for this Friday’s clash with the Pumas.

Vermaak was axed from the Lions’ match 22 last week when it emerged that he had signed with the Bulls. Apparently neither Lions coach John Mitchell nor senior members of management were aware of the move, and Vermaak told Mitchell that he wasn’t offered a contract by the Bulls on four separate occasions.

It’s now emerged that Mitchell is not interested in using Vermaak in any of the Lions’ remaining Currie Cup matches. This will allow Vermaak to join the Bulls immediately, and he could be in the Bulls’ match 22 this Friday.

    plenty of talent in that bulls side…seriously need to pull the finger out though.

    with so many youngsters, need to start focusing on doing the basic things well.

    start off with just trying to win the collisions.
    a set piece that you can rely on.

    With Francois Hougaard at the Bulls, Vermaak will be spending a lot of time on the bench in next year’s Super 15. Must have moved for the money, as he was guaranteed more game time at the Lions. Money talks, bullshit walks.

    They need Vermaak,Jinka is mediocre at best plus he isnt the youngest bloke.

    Bandesio was terrible for Lions

    good call by lions…..seeing the bigger picture and hopefuly getting a bit of a trf type fee….good for Jano that he gets to play….mature call being made here….

    I would rather have Jano in bok 9 jersey than Ruan Pienaar…

    Interesting to see Lions play to their flyhalve as the playmaker. Bulls/ Sharks/Stormers and Bokke play to numbers 6/7 as playmakers.

    Bulls must get rid of 9 and 10.

    Luckely Jano is used to play behind a losing pack.

    @Tjokker(Tjokker)-4: Well, it didn’t make sense playing Jano if you’re preparing for next year’s S15.

    Just like I hope Naka doesn’t play Steenkamp if he doesn’t have to. The Cheetahs failed this season almost entirely because of a lack of locks, so now is the time to get them ready for next season.

    Why should the Lions and Cheetahs give experience to Bulls players? Doesn’t make sense!

    It would actually be beneficial to both teams if these 2 players’ contracts were bought out this season, so they could rather spend it on players for next season.

    @grant10(grant10)-6: Agree with you!

    Good relationship between LRU and BBRU. When Maku and Francis got the opportunity for more game time at the Lions, the BBRU helped the players without any hesitation. When Delport asked to go, the BBRU immediately got DHL to make sure he reach his new destination!

    @capebull(capebull)-7:

    Very true.Which is why we are limited on attack.Perfect example is Sharks-no thrust outwide thus try bludgeon with Alberts,Deysel,Bismark.Front up physically and nothing much to offer.

    Elton Jantjes/Lambie/Eberson/van Aswegen are 10′s that play to the line….And are GENUINE threats there..Elton has the full array of skills,hope he is allowed to continue in the way he has been playing.His conditioning has improved drastically as well.

    Good to see.

    PS-All those 10′s are wee fellas as well but brilliant footballers,hope that isnt coached out of them to over rely on structure.Knowing SA that will happen…Soon as things go tough-Skop & jag-archaic BS even though we have the talent

    I cannot get over this Vermaak loss. He is a good player but I respect his decision to move. Good luck…. Bandiseo is very raw and very slow at times but he show some glimpses this past weekend (final try)…. but the jury is still out on him.

    @Bouts(Bouts)-8: I’m sure the Bulls will gladly buy the remaining contract of Steenkamp as well. Please remember that Steenkamp made a temporary arrangement with the Cheetahs and Bulls. The Cheetahs could, and did use Steenkamp and he got valuable game time. Different story with Vermaak.

    With Vic, Bakkies and Danie leaving, we can utilise Wilhelm at No 5. Juandre Kruger may even move to 7 and Fudge Mabetha has not yet showed that he is ready (if ever) for S15 or CC rugby.

    @mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-3: he wasn’t bad and wasn’t good either … just okay not terrible, you know like he was when he broke behind the Bulls defence to setup the winning try :wink:

    He needs to start this weekend, can’t be any more useless than Jinka… Now the Bulls need to sign a decent flyhalve as well!
