Big guns to duel in Bloem

The annual Grey Bloem-Glenwood rivalry will see the best of Free State and KZN feature in the Schoolboy Derby match of the weekend.

Grey Bloem have been the top school in the country this year, with an unbeaten record of 15 wins and two draws. Glenwood have suffered 5 defeats in their 16 fixtures, but have enjoyed a good run of form of late. Their derby victory over Maritzburg College will provide some much-needed confidence heading into the trip to Bloemfontein for Saturday’s game.

Grey Bloem and the Green Machine have meet each other every year since 2005. Glenwood have only achieved one victory since then, a 14-10 win in 2006, while Grey Bloem have dominated with some big victories. The hosts should prove too strong for the inconsistent visitors this weekend.

Other big matches will see Outeniqua and Oudtshoorn meet in a FNB Classic Clash and unbeaten Noord-Kaap take on Kimberley neighbours Diamantveld.

Bishops face Wynberg and Rondebosch hosts SACS in traditional Cape derbies while Boishaai will try to overcome last weekend’s upset loss to Gimmies when they tackle Boland Landbou at home.
