talking Selbourne, I saw a nice cameo on schoolboy rugby leading in to the PE Test this w/e. It was a 1st XV match between visitors, Selbourne, and Greys High. Apparently the Founder of Greys is the same guy who founded Auckland Grammar (has produced more ABs than any other school in NZ). Crikey, a couple of the Selbourne boys made Kobus Wiese look like a deflated balloon. Great crowd shots of the supporters, passionate chants etc.

    Nice.

You have nothing on this thread to apologise to me about whatsoever. Just making a general observation of a reoccurring trend.

Hey were all having a conversation!!! Much better than the bickering. Now lets just agree John Smit is a pile of poop lol. Seriously though John cant be blamed for the whole downfall. There are a lot of culprits. Habana has to take a long hard look at himself too. Another one in total denial. My main problem is we have picked a team based on past glories and form and in some cases that form has been absent for more than 2 years now. A real pity we lost 2 of the in form and better Boks. Selections are going to be crucial. Danie in fro Juan Smith will be just as fatal. Danie is really slow lately and shuldnt play anywhere but 4.

Grey in PE. looked like they had fairly decent facilities. I presume its fairly close to Selbourne – they had hundreds of supporters in the stand. Presumably a boarding school, then.

Seriously, this 1 guy looked totally out of place. Ive played against Kelston Boys (they had wingers bigger than me, a TH-lock) and Western Heights (heavier frontrow than ABs in my senior year) and I have NEVER seen a player as big and physically developed as this 1 Selbourne player.

Look I am no John Smit cheerleader,I just know that it is too late to change

@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-607: Yeah man firey! Spanish woman are gorgeous but a lot of them arent so hot when they open their mouths lol. But definitely very hot women here. Spain is cool pretty laidback and they love their holidays, family orientated but there are other issues and most people are well ignorant of world matters, politics and culture. Salaries are low, people try and scam you at every turn and bend and in Barcelona people are hugely unfriendly and self centered. Also Barcelona is a very ugly city apart from the Gaudi buildings and main thoroughfares. Smelly too. Nothing green to be seen in town and all parks (almost) are gravel and no grass.

@Black Panther(Black Panther)-606: Grey PE is good, but not like the one in Bloemfontein

Selborne College is a great school, I played for their Old Boys club rugby, when I lived for a short time in Slumtown

@JL1(JL1)-609: Yeah I´d just be happy if some of them just did a few things differently – JDV – dont always crash the ball up and try and find space and offload. The backs need the ball – no wonder there is no attack. Habana – stay in your channel and dont rush up for intercepts. McCabe scored his try cos Habana was nowhere near his wing. He needs to also work on ball handling skills. i think he has some major eye hand co-ord issues. FDP – stop soliciting the ref, and stop the aimless boxkixking. Morne – damn – he needs to tackle and try attacking sometime, Stand flatter. Matfield – cant complain too much – old Vic has slowed somewhat – maybe just stay out the backline. Smit – too slow, too weak in scrum as a prop (not his fault), lacks fitness and makes some daft decisions sometimes. Just not up to scratch in general. No need to change – Vic captains – no worries about subbing him off and having to move Beast to lock and play Bismarck as no 1 hooker and Chilli or Strauss as backup. No hiccups, no problems no nothing – just pure efficiency.

    Skop

London is THE place to be when youre 30 – 40. So much going on. So many job opportunities. So many wonderful people (and so many cr@p people). So many different cultures. Nah, I cant say anything bad about the place.

Its cr@p for kids tho. Not wholly bad, just not where you want them growing up.

Since returning to NZ (and no, Charo, NZ is not perfect/nirvana/heaven….it doesnt even have the best waves, can you farken believe it ?!) Ive realised how truly cr@p it was for kids. My kids now RUN in to school. They love their teachers. They have 20 mins ‘boot camp’ before classes even start, such a healthy attitude to learning. They mix with a far wider cosmopolitan mix too than London where the cultural mix depends on what part of town they live in (eg 2 blacks kids out of a class of 30 in London……in NZ its 30-40% white, others being Maori/Poly/Chinese/African/Scandis + 1 wee Safa !).

Certainly me and the Mrs will take longer to adapt to the pace of life in NZ, it seems half-asleep at times. But the move south was all about the kids and, in that respect, its been a winner. So far…

well one of their players must have accounted for half of that. He was mobile too, a beast.

yip London is for yuppies that want to feel the ‘buzz’ but thats all it got – that big metropolitan mind banging buzz

NZ or Cape Town or anywhere that is more natural is far better place to bring up a family I would suggest.

I liked London a lot I was very at ‘home’ there .. got along well with the people and all the experience of the place.. but it wouldn’t have been a place for a long term settling in… much too closed in and not very healthy from a natural ‘living – breathing’ perspective.

    @ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-619:

That reads like ‘London Zone 1′ to me. head out in to the ‘burbs and, actually, you can have a life that is not tooooo far from ‘home’. We lived in Chiswick, Zone 2, and we had 2-3 fantastic parks within 5mins. It was easy to get out of town from there too.

I cant compare a CT but I know that here in Auckland somethings are healthier (food, lifestyle) whilst others are not (professionally). Depends what youre after but my kids seem to be overwhelmed with happiness. Tomorrow my daughter picks up a kitten for her bday (we refused to have pets in Lndn) and we then visit her Godfathers farm in Waikato to help with some calving whilst my boys go eel’ing in the creek. No wonder theyre happy.

But I cant say too much bad about London, altho all I can say is that the riots werent toooo much of shock….(esp those teenage b*tches on the bus in Hammersmith, make the hoodie scum seem like Social Workers).
