Perhaps players no when they going to get tested and if takin they take in the off season so it is out of their system come testing time.

Do Glenwood test their players? Know that Kearsney and Maritzburg College test. Would be interesting to see the results.

@bryce_in_oz(bryce_in_oz)-2: Hmmm... your point is valid about the drugs, but steroids ain't illegal for normal use, so you can't throw it into the same category. Same in all countries. In other words, it is impossible to police proactively. But, @Kat(Katsesnor)-6 is right. Extreme punishment is the only way, even if a little unfair to the recipient of the ban. I said it before, a number of coaches gets away too cleanly for my taste. In the US coaches also get banned for life if there is a possibility that they were aware of (or even motivated) the use of steroids.

This “punishment through more education” is a soft approach that in my opinion will never work. Kids are smart. They know how/where to get the information. They use the internet to do research on how to beat the system. They are already well aware of the potential dangers. The days when kids were ignorant of medical facts are long gone. Please wake up people! Discipline offenders in ways that will make sure others don’t copy them. Get serious and show it.

Unfortunately one of the adverse effects of a game turning professional… this is long been happening in Aus with league and AFL and NFL in the states at school-boys levels…

On the price and policing… since South Africa’s border and customs control became ‘open-gates’ particularly in their ports… it’s become the cocaine, meth and heroin redirecting capital of the world… this filters down to steriods, their availability and their price… govt seemingly turning a blind eye… or simply too stuffed with pie…
