RWC latest – Samoa pick overseas stars

Samoa pick overseas stars – Samoa have named 28 overseas-based players in their 30-man World Cup squad.

Only forwards Logovi’i Mulipola and Ofisa Treviranus play their rugby in the country. Former London Irish centre Seilala Mapusua, who will continue his career in Japan after the World Cup, will lead Samoa in New Zealand.

The Springboks will face Samoa in their final group game on 30 September.

    This is one of the most poached rugby squads in history.

    In this Samoan squad of 30, 16 are New Zealand born, one is Australian born and a further 5 came to NZ as young children, learning all of their rugby in NZ. Moreover a further 3 came to NZ to do some of their secondary schooling?

    Why no outcry about poaching?

    This team beat the Aussies this year something the Boks have really struggled to do in recent years. Bloody tough group….
