Duane Vermeulen is out of the June Tests. Stormers strong man Duane Vermeulen returned home from the Stormers Super Rugby tour because of injury and conservatively won't play again until July. It could be that he is out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season as well because of knee ligament damage. Stormers loose-forward Rynhardt Elstadt is also out for at least six weeks as the Cape-based franchise's season went from bad to worse in Sydney. Vermeulen, Meyer's first choice No 8, will be nursed back to action for the Rugby Championship in August. His injury means a likely Bok start ... Read Article19 May 2013
GREGOR PAUL, in the Herald on Sunday, writes world rugby will get its integrated season after the 2015 World Cup and Super Rugby won't break to accommodate an international window. Super Rugby will shift to a March start and won't break for test matches, the June window will be shifted to July and all players will have a 14 to 16-week off-season. Other innovative plans are being discussed, such as building a world series of tests in years that fall between the World Cup and British Lions tours. The revolution that All Black coach Steve Hansen called for last week is coming. The players ... Read Article25 Apr 2013
Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article26 Aug 2011

@captain fantail(captain fantail)-149: Yes we do, but pleased we don’t have to play another 3N test. That would be a worry. Just too tough and physical, also would worry about injuries. For now we have 3 with slight injuries but they are on the mend and will be fit for the start of the wc.
We could have a warm up against our C team…hehehe. They that would be even more physical than a 3N game. So don’t think that would be wise. We should have played Nambia before the 3N started to get us more game time.
Anyhow for now we sitting nicely. A win in the last test and no injuries.
We will be ready for Wales. Well I hope so.
Good luck to your ABs tomorrow mate. I always support them when they not playing the Boks.
Somehow on bru it says I say Oz by 7 tomorrow. Had to send them mail to change that as I said Abs by 7. So hope they have sorted it out.
Now out of here back later.

Yep you like ‘stabbing’ your blow-up dolls… each to his own… but Freud would have a field day with you and your posts!
If I were that inclined… it most certainly wouldn’t be the most successful captain in the history of Springbok rugby… perhaps Irene Van Dyk at a stretch…

@Staal(Staal)-13
I did that as well a couple of years ago on the Berea in Durban, women in brand new red BMW just picked up from shop went straight through red robot, smashed right into the passenger side, luckily i was driving a tank like car, hers was totaled
I jumped out and was trying to pull her out car hurling the most shocking abuse, fortunately cops witnessed the whole accident and were very nice and said i was in shock thats why we sometimes react and say those kind of things. Funny side is my one brother inlaw was 2 cars behind me and saw everything was was covered on the explaining to the husband and not a kamakazi women driver

@Tacitus(Deucalion)-120: In some circles, a 40-odd year old, speedo wearing wannabe liberal sitting in a jacuzzi in Camps Bay, with Sunday Bloody Sunday endleslly thundering over his soundsystem, while he frantically types emo messages on a RUGBY site through his pink fur encased laptop fitted with a flotation device constructed from a eating tray taped to the back of two rubber bathduck pontoons – well, let’s just say that would qualify as pretty strange as well.

@hendrikp(hendrikp)-8:
Rubbish they had a dominant performance against the Wallabies in NZ, they completely dominated a pretty full strength wallabie team.
Wallabies should be more up for this one though being a decider and at home for them as well as some confidence from there recent win is SA.

@President_of_the_Sharks_rugby_experts(sharks_lover)-119: Agree totally. Brilliant read that.

@President_of_the_Sharks_rugby_experts(sharks_lover)-119: On that note, colets give the Boks a huge send off on the 1st Sept at Sandton on their walk to the Gautrain station before departing for NZ. Going to be huge

Interesting . Most Kiwis will back the boks to win against the aussies every time. Mutual respect from a nation with a proud rugby history. But u read the trash on this site and read the vitriole from the bok fans desperately hoping the aussies will beat the blacks.
sad how the once mighty history has been wiped away and the new generation of bok fans have no respect for their greatest foe, other than the odd true fan most here, like helen, great white prawn and the like, are just a bunch of dead beat losers

I say, ABs by 6 or something.
Battle of the kisses of death. Part 2. So far Keo 0, Nils 1.
27 Aug 2011, 05:02 am
Was going to post about this game but ITM rugby on and it looks like now that Auckland have worked out that they can now come last and still not be relegated they have decided to play like craap again.
This is going to force Canterbury into needing a bonus point later today. That would make remaining games pointless except for the Shield.
27 Aug 2011, 05:06 am
The commentary team do not discuss any of the permutations … all they do is joke about using a calculator …. mathematical morons ….. damn we produce some stupid New Zealanders.
27 Aug 2011, 05:19 am
Exactly captain fantail its for bums! Full stop. Since when was gambling cool? It brings misery and thats it! The house never loses!
27 Aug 2011, 05:40 am
New Zealand Lotto = tax on stupid people
27 Aug 2011, 05:49 am
It is funny that our government that is meant to look after the welfare of the people for years and years ran promotion and coverage of horse racing gambling that is in fact is no different to what the TAB Channel (a gambling company) run now.
Now we still get friggen annoying Lotto adverts and inserts during normal TV. They even put gambling results in pop-ups over top of TV sub-titles.
Ban all advertising I say. It’s just pollution.
27 Aug 2011, 05:55 am
All Blacks by 7 for this one, Aussies are not good enough against the ABs
27 Aug 2011, 05:58 am
Just watched the video.
Keo (whois receiving payment from a betting company) and has just told you that Australia will win because they have such a great record an Suncorp beating everyone except the All Blacks (who they are of course playing).
If you are stupid enough to follow Keo’s rational then you really do need guidance and help. Don’t bet.
But the way. There was no content in that TV clip except for the gambling advert. The clip should have had an age warning on it.
27 Aug 2011, 08:51 am

@Black Magic(Black Magic)-162:
Dude, don’t become like your countryman poppadoos and generalise. This site is hardly a sample of the average Bok fan.
It’s Fringe Division …….
27 Aug 2011, 10:56 am
pretty sure the ABs gonna take this one, but with Aussie paying $2.70 at TAB that’s where I am putting my money.
