Willie le Roux and Lappies Labuschagne have finally been rewarded with spots in the Springbok training group. They are two of eight that are first timers in Springbok training groups this year. The others are Gio Aplon, Trevor Nyakane, JJ Engelbrecht, Lionel Mapoe, Wiehahn Herbst and Demetri Catrakilis. The group of players will assemble in Durban for the second training camp of the year, before the final squad for the Incoming Tours is selected. Players not considered due to injury include: JP Pietersen, Jaco Taute, Frans Steyn, Johan Goosen, Duane Vermeulen, Pat Cilliers and Frans Malherbe. ... Read Article24 May 2013

Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article26 Aug 2011

See the ABs have to win this weekend’s match to take the Bledisloe Cup; they cannot adopt an attitude that they are now focussed on the RWC.
Same applies to the Wallabies.
What if major injuries, say to a Quade or Daniel come out of this week?
These are some of the variables and or permutations that will be on the coaching staff’s minds.
So it will be an intense 80 min only to count for very little a week later, pretty cruel if you ask me.
From there on… of course the big one. The opening ceremony, the fireworks, the countless interviews and little events where the ABs will need to share their thoughts.
I expect several incidents (tomfoolery) as the days and weeks drag on.
It will be a case of AB fans wanting reassurance in every interview, every practice session, every event saying that they will do the business but no one will say it outright.
No Kiwi interviewer will ask the question outright? Can we go all the way? But all the questions and nuances will actually imply it.
Look out for SA commentators on Kiwi prog in their irrational desire to gauge the SA mindset or desire of the Boks to win again.
It’s gonna be a cliffhanger, that’s for sure…

half bred scum like this is the scum that lowers the common denomination of humanity below that of any animal… this piece of half bred half witted garbage scum that thinks its clever is lower than a filthy rotten half bred ignorant uneducated trash talking filthy rat.
Scum garbage of the absolute worst kind in any society is this piece of filthy capo scum infested rat..
People come on here either to talk some rugby or else to banter among each other in a reasonably civilized manner… where it sometimes borders on the razors edge of inhumane filth, it occasionally resembles a whorehouse in ovulation, … however the outright trash that regurgitates from out this half breed piece of scums mind who thinks he has some kind of moralistic disposition to declare principles of morality by his pseudo garbage infested ratification, is the absolute worst piece of filthy rotten regurgitated trash anyone could ever have the misfortune of acquainting themselves with.
this capo scum is the worst piece of outright filth this website has ever had the misfortune of entertaining…and if such be the levels it so desires to stoop to then better it gets its head out its arse and start reevaluating what denotes reasonable principles of communication and what don’t..
I may have been bordering on the thin edge of inappropriate behavior here often enough and the numerous bannings of my Id’s speak for themselves, but this outright piece of inherently filthy garbage scum stoops well below any level of acceptable interaction… so if they want to continue in this medium of despicable lowlife entertainment…. let them count the cost of the reactions that simply are abhorred by such outright scum infested unscrupulous garbage behavioral trash.

Who is your next SARU President and why?
25 Aug 2011, 21:51 pm
b’tch away… some scum here are simply abhorrent pieces of lowlife despicable filth… you wanna associate with such outright scum filth… keep going… wallow in the trash
Outright Scum like some the half bred trash here that pretends to be educated or clever is worst garbage filth under the sun… scum of the absolute worst kind.. pity it ever took human birth because I swear to God it ain’t half human…. it belies its breeding or its humanity .. it is SCUM of the absolute worst filthy kind … second to none.

25 Aug 2011, 22:03 pm
yeah its over the top Madvillain.. pity it takes over the top reaction to fleece out filthy half bred trash and spew it down the toilet of its own scum infested habitation .. there are some individuals in this creation … and pity is they are free to air their intoxicated self infested hatred in a publicly published domain … who are simply not worthy to be equated with the human species.. in fact you may find they are not human if you scratch away the surface of their scaly reptilian skins you will find outright venom infested veins and sinews of despicable poisonous hatred and inhumane judgment which does not represent or resemble a human being ONE LITTLE BIT..
Next SARU president is hardly any of my concerns.. as far as rugby goes in relation to its somewhat relative importance in the grander scheme of things here… I am simply concerned whether they are going to go for the toffee apple pie in the sky opportunistic endeavor to hail John Smit as the greatest Bok rugby captain and play him up front in the world cup hooking pecking order.. or by some last minute miracle see reason and realize that the TEAM comes first and the INDIVIDUAL is a nonentity NOBODY !!
That is all I’m currently evaluating with regard to the next chapter in Springbok rugby attributes and ambitions.
25 Aug 2011, 22:06 pm
@ Transie; if i were you i would get off the transformation subject as it typically lends itself to racism, which some bloggers are accustomed to.
You know the game of rugby, stick to what you know. I too get tired of fighting “petty” battles on transformation. I choose to dwell on matters that are rugby related because most people who prefer to call black people infidels do not know much about the daily struggles on the other side.
Now that is out of the way, what’s your take on Brian van Rooyen vs. Oregan Hoskins?
Do you have anyone in mind for the presidency of SARU?
Your take on the new currie cup format?

Pot k@k as jy my vra. It’s shocking that there are so few whites in the NBA, and so few blacks in the NHL. They, the North Americans, better sort that shite out. At least 75% of the NBA should be white, and at least 15% of the NHL should be black. Not even talking about the Spanish and First Nation people. Damn disgrace.
25 Aug 2011, 22:22 pm
correct those posts are specifically and exactly the same thing… they are directed directly at the single unscrupulous inhumane garbage filth that comes on here posing as intelligence . and therefore such outright scum infested filth begets what it perpetuates… you ever hear of the saying sleep with dogs and you will undoubtedly get flees, continue associating with scum … and such will be the level of the interaction… how possibly could it be anything other?

This is what Hoskins said in 2007 after the Bok squad announcement. This is why he has failed the game.
Hoskins, in an interview with the Independent Group newspapers at the weekend, has set a target of at least seven players of colour in the Springbok starting XV in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Hoskins, at the weekend, again emphasises the fact that the game’s administrators, and not the national selectors, would be judged on transformation.
“At the announcement of the 2007 World Cup squad I said the administration – and not the national selectors – must take the blame for the slow pace of transformation,” Hoskins was quoted as saying in the Independent Group newspapers.
“We had to act immediately to address it, but there had to be substance to our way forward. There is no quick fix and we had to agree on a target for 2011. We have to ensure that every opportunity is created so that the national selectors can meet this target in the next four years.”
Hoskins emphasised that he was looking at a targets, not quotas.
“We, as the game’s leadership, must take charge of transformation issues. There can be no turning back on our commitment to change. We are not forcing the national coach to pick seven or eight black players in 2008. It is a target we believe can be achieved by the next World Cup when we can confidently say the Springboks represent everyone in South Africa, and that every player in the starting XV is there on merit. ‘
Regan, the same two coloured wingers who started in the 2007 RWC final, and a black import from Zimbabwe is who will start four years later. You said it in 2007, blame the administration. So I am blaming you and that is why you should go.

It’s all very well attacking Hoskins for the lack of transformation. The reality is that his hands have been tied by the Provincial Unions and their desire to pander to the support base that puts them into power. The president of SARU has very little executive power when it comes to enforcing policies on the unions themselves.
25 Aug 2011, 23:23 pm
Yip I agree those attacking Hoskins are mostly disgruntled toffee nosed Europeans who wouldn’t move from their position of upper echelon privilege if you tried escorting them out in a white horse driven hearse.
It all takes time .. Rome weren’t built in a day or a decade or even in a lifetime… but though its been a long time coming, and I know yes I know.. a change is a gonna come.. oh yes it is.

@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-341:
We need to get back to treating rugby as a game and not as a sport that defines the identity of white South African society.
25 Aug 2011, 23:28 pm
For the life of me I cannot see how driving a racial agenda like transformation is able to solve a racial problem. It wouldn’t make any difference to me if the SA rugby was entirely black, in fact i’d far prefer it, but trying to make it so is surely not the way to go. SA is mired in racial nonsense, its like a big chip on its shoulder that constantly weighs it down, its too be expected, but one wonders if it will every be able to truly supercede its racial roots.

what would a liar knows about first nation people.skopskiet can’t even be honest with himself and admit where he was born.in the past couple of monts he has revealed three possible locations.the funny thing is that when he gets found out he always change the birth city for some obscure reason.he is a lioar of note which even sharkslover can attest to.this is a man that employs illegals in his business and in the process defrauds the sa authorities.i’ve got little time for this five foot one oke.
25 Aug 2011, 23:30 pm
@David(David)-344: it might be the last vestiges of the laager that don’t wanna be uncircled , you are right rugby is by no means a white mans dominion or a white mans heritage… rugby is a sport like any other.. it just happens to have taken root very strongly as a token of a sporting identity within a specific community… it may take a little time.. but it will be defrayed of its lone identity status pretty soon.. junior rugby is already showing huge strides of awakening among other societies and communities.. I give it another 20 – 30 years tops before it is completely inter dispersed within the broader spectrum of South African cultures altogether and completely.
