England lose Armitage

Delon Armitage will miss England’s quarter-final due to a one-match suspension for foul play.

Following a review of broadcast footage of Saturday’s Pool B game between England and Scotland, Armitage was cited under Law 10.4(e) for a dangerous tackle. He has since been suspended by Independent Judicial Officer Bruce Squire QC (NZL) in accordance with the Rugby World Cup 2011 Disciplinary process.

Having conducted a detailed review of all the evidence available, including all broadcast angles and additional evidence from the player and submissions from his legal representative, the Judicial Officer deemed the offence to be lower end offending which has an entry point of two weeks.

However, taking into account particular aspects of the offending which the Judicial Officer found justified a reduction from the proscribed entry point when taken into consideration with mitigating factors and the absence of aggravating factors, the player was suspended for a period of one match.

    No loss with Armitage out, he’s been below-average on the wing. Engl will pray that Cueto is fit.

    I see that Tindall has been caught out fibbing about his “only a friend” incident in Queenstown and was CCTV’ed going to a different hotel than his own, in strict contravention to the version he released via the Royal Family legal firm. It seems being a serial-philanderer is a requirement before entering The Firm.

    Pathetic citing.

    Commiserations for Saturday. Don’t know how England got out of jail? Your front row annihilated ours and somehow Foden stopped Danielie from scoring the try that would have won you the match. Hope you had a good Saturday night to get over it!

    It’s not a question of praying for Mark Cueto to be fit, Cueto was available for selection for the last game, Johnson just preferred Armitage.

    The entire Mike Tindall episode was a ploy to get you Kiwis frothing at the mouth and running for your gossip magazines instead of focussing on the rugger. Looks like it’s working!

    Oh and has anyone spotted that loud-mouthed bet-welsher francois since England gave the Scots yet another biffing on the rugby field?

    Thanks bud. I’m still gutted after the last two weekends, but no complaints from me at all. The better two teams have gone through even though at time we did play some nice rugby and showed what we could be capable of, it’s still not enough.

    As for Saturday, I can just about stick my head above the parapet this morning ;)

    @Kitchener(Kitchener)-11: If Armitage is indeed the best available, then your trouble runs deeper than even I imagined. Surely there’s a South African over there with an English grandmother who can catch the ball and run a bit. Tell that big ugly low-brow fella to stick his pride in his pocket and do the right thing for his queen and country.

    This from someone who has a one-dimensional donkey like Morning Stain playing flyhalf for his team, a fat marshmallow like John Smit at hooker and a spent force like Bryan Habana on the wing. I’d take Armitage over Bryan ‘Interceptor” Habana any old day of the week.

    You worry about your team getting to the final, old plum, and I’ll worry about mine.

    I would hardly call it a biffing Paddy. I saw two teams, more or less evenly matched who played a very close game.

    But the difference between Scotland and England is that Scotland know they are shiite but you guys are too arrogant to know it.

    Dont flatter yourself in to believing anyone in NZ feels threatened by Engl. I was at Eden Park on Saturday pm and my daughter felt more threatened by squirting her ketchup on her jeans than by the England ‘backline moves’.

    Cueto is considerably more dangerous than Armitage, who I have watched since a kid at Richmond (my son’s club) and Ive never seen what all the fuss was about.

    @JockBok(JockBok)-18:

    Shite or not, England are still in the tournament. To advance to the final they only have to beat the Frogs who appear to have imploded in their inimitable Gallic style and then beat one of the Celtic upstarts . . . and as you well know, we regularly knock the stuffing out of the inferior Celts.

    You skirt-wearers might consider making a third consecutive RWC final to be “shite” but then what would you chaps know about making finals?

    @Black Panther(Black Panther)-19:

    I believe the point I was making to you was the fact that there’s no need to pray for Cueto to be fit, he wasn’t injured. But don’t let that stop you from having a little chest-beat about how rubbish everyone else is compared to the mighty All Blacks.

    Just by the way, what is your change strip in case you make the final and England decide to wear black?

    Just out of interest, do you think your Steroid-Boks are the only team at this year’s RWC with some players who already have RWC medals?

  • 23.>^..^< katman: Reply to this comment

    @Kitchener(Kitchener)-22: No, but by far the most. Hell, the SA team probably boasts more WC medals than all the other teams put together.

    @Kitchener(Kitchener)-20:

    No sure, and all power to your boys. I think you have a fantastic chance to make the final. I’m hoping you do as much as I hope Wales or Ireland do.

    That’s not the point I was making, and maybe I made it wrong. It was about the mental toughness and Scotland are often beaten before they take to the field.

    I don’t know if anyone can say England are a very good team, they are not in my opinion, and probably on a level with the other 6N teams and the Argies. But their belief perhaps carries it at the end of the day through an arrogance that borders on entitlement.

    There’s no hard feeling from this Jock, we get used to this kind of thing and look to ourselves for answers rather than blame others. Simply put, we blew it.

    I congratulated you on another thread on Sat morning but anyway, sincere good luck to England Kitch. I really mean it.

    and by this i mean all the really low ugly stuff they’ve been getting up to (as usual) and then trying to lie their way out with damage control press statements.
    just look at the on field stuff; dirty, negative play with deliberate intention to injure and otherwise, also the ball tampering/changing and when your done then look at the off-field stuff too…the behaviour of the captain (a married man no less) as well other members of the squad sexually harrasing hotel maids and so on.

    this has nothing to do with the past and history, its about the here and now. and the english of now are a dislikeable lot.

    @Kitchener(Kitchener)-27:
    no, its a play on the nz captains name…richie…

  • 29.PommieRob: Reply to this comment

    Wow just wow…I know Kitch is winding you up but some of the comments on here are so ignorant.

    All the off the field stuff being spouted by the rags happened on the same night so one incident as it were the papers are dragging it out over the weeks to sell papers what a shock. But you guys are right no other team is having any fun its only England going white water rafting and having a few beers down a pub?

    As for the on field stuff I take it no one saw JPP’s tackle round the face or Brussow lash out when being held in a ruck and hit the man on the back of the head (Both the Samoan player and Brussow should have been yellow carded for that).

    But you right England are ****, we have only won all our matches so far I mean France lost to Tonga and the All Blacks and looked good doing so ;p

    “It emerged yesterday the England manager had angrily reprimanded James Haskell, Chris Ashton and Dylan Hartley for making lewd comments to a female staff member at their Dunedin hotel.
    Cueto then fired an angry broadside at what he perceived to be “horrendous” coverage of Tindall’s now infamous night out in Queenstown.’
