Ioane back for Boks

Ioane back for Boks

In-form Wallaby wing Digby Ioane will start against the Springboks in the quarter-final.

Director of coaching David Nucifora told the media that Ioane has overcome a thumb injury that kept him sidelined since their opening match of the tournament against Australia. ‘He has been training freely, he ticks all the boxes and is go to go,’ he said.

Nucifora added that outside of midfielder Rob Horne, there were no other serious injury concerns.

Meanwhile, Matt Hodgson has been brought into the Wallabies’ squad as official cover for openside David Pocock. Hodgson joined the team on Monday as a replacement for loose forward Wycliff Palu. Palu suffered a hamstring strain in the match against the USA and has since returned to Australia.

Palu’s injury may be a blessing in disguise, as the Wallabies have lacked a genuine alternative to Pocock in the pool stages. When Pocock has been unavailable through injury or has left the field, the Wallabies’ forward effort has suffered.

Robbie Deans and company will be hoping that Hodgson will make a similar impact to that of Pocock if the premier No 7 has to leave the field at any stage during the play-offs.

Lachie Turner will also join the squad as a replacement for Drew Mitchell. Mitchell strained his hamstring in Sunday’s game against Russia and will play no further part in the tournament.

    Pocock back
    Ioane back

Those record numbers of missed-tackles by the Boks are about to be turned in to points. Heinrecho Ronaldo better bring his skates, theyre easier to stay standing with than studs.

Good to see the AB;s still have “money bill” Ronaldo in the squad with no pulled muscles………..at least Brussow did not throw his hands in the air like a muppet and had reason to go down, which is more than we can say for “money bill” after a little tug on his jersey

Funny how the one eyed keeeeweee press are whinging about a red card hey?

    Faarking whinging twats

And then to top it all the whinging moans pull the race card………..hahahaha

    Pathetic

Does it count as a missed tackle when Habana comes in from his wing and gives Ioane the overlap?

The Boks are the most nerveless of the remaining teams. That is where it is won or lost.

    @stormer in a teacup(stormer in a teacup)-8:

Most of the Top 5 teams ARE “nerveless’ against teams ranked considerably lower.

2003 Qterf was the last time the Boks met a team ranked higher.

    bet you cant without Googling.

Same cant be said of Boks. And no counting dodgy club teams, y’hear !

things arent looking good, especially if bismark and alberts and hougaard are benched, theoretically we do have some depth on the wing in that aplon and hougaard should cover the wings well – i dont think we lose much there, but you right frans steyn is a big loss.
