Willie le Roux and Lappies Labuschagne have finally been rewarded with spots in the Springbok training group. They are two of eight that are first timers in Springbok training groups this year. The others are Gio Aplon, Trevor Nyakane, JJ Engelbrecht, Lionel Mapoe, Wiehahn Herbst and Demetri Catrakilis. The group of players will assemble in Durban for the second training camp of the year, before the final squad for the Incoming Tours is selected. Players not considered due to injury include: JP Pietersen, Jaco Taute, Frans Steyn, Johan Goosen, Duane Vermeulen, Pat Cilliers and Frans Malherbe. ... Read Article25 May 2013

Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article6 Oct 2011

@Puma(Puma)-795:
Puma Smit has played at tighthead and at hooker, its irrelevant, at hooker we have nearly lost every time he’s taken to the field against oz in the last 3 years – what is relevant and directly correlated to our best win is Bismark starting. He is non-negotiatable, the results are glaringly obvious, everytime he starts the Boks and their pack look a completely different animal.
Deans must be lovin it.
6 Oct 2011, 20:07 pm
@cab(cab)-797: Spin it chap, spin it… You turning yourself inside out by about Smitty, quoted as the best hooker on the planet by Dippy, your Wee Maestro….

Okay I am off.
Cheers everyone.
Hope tomorrow we just support our boys and forget who is playing cause WE can’t change it. Let us just be one and support the Boks.

6 Oct 2011, 20:14 pm
@cab(cab)-803: Cab after 2009 the laws changed and also the team won’t stay at their peak forever. Did we not just dip cause the whole team did? Or is it only cause of one man in the team that we lost?
What about some other players that might not have been great. We can’t just lay the blame on Smit. That really is wrong.
Anyhow tired of the Smit bashing.
Back tomorrow. Cheers Cab. We can still win this thing. Stay positive Cab.

Even the brilliant analogy of the war of the flea (too profound for someone who believes in W H O R E Street) has to be fantasised for I have seen NO flea inPhiladelphia’s freedom ever.

6 Oct 2011, 20:18 pm
@Puma(Puma)-810:
uh huh pumes, laws change fair enough, but look at that 2009 pack with bismarck and brussow rampaging around – alberts is 2 years later but he’s also in that sort of form – this could and should be a side that bliksems these ozzies into next week, but we made it twice as difficult.
very very much hope they do win it, but its not right this. see you later, you will have to bring the positivity for this one.

One thing I cannot stand is arsecreeps… like this Mike H idiot up that piece of trash JW’s behind for all he is worth and putting his blinkered ****’d up hero worshiping indiscretion on display where J. Smit becomes his holy f’ng messiah by night and by day…to the extent where his holy f’ng aura blinds him to simply see the reality of the situation where Smit has NOT WON a single rugby test in Bok colors since Brussow stole the right of way… way back in those heady days of 2009… but NOTHING.. ZERO… NADA… FOKOL … ZILCH .. NIENTA … NYET since then…
WTF gives these goons ANY idea its gonna suddenly do a 180 miraculous swing around on Sunday ?

See the Saffas are feeling very much at home in NZ…
South African journalists have been given a “taste of home”, saying they’ve been the victims of crime during a visit to Auckland to report on the Rugby World Cup.
Photographers Barry Aldworth and Christiaan Kotze said they were robbed of nearly $10,000 worth of gear after the Springboks clashed with Samoa at North Harbour Stadium last Friday.
Journalists Brendan Nel and Gavin Rich also confirmed that their car had been broken into last Thursday night while it was parked in the secure underground car park at the Pullman Hotel in central Auckland.
6 Oct 2011, 20:39 pm
@Great White Shark(Predawn)-828: they do have a point however, pure rugby logic dictates B.Du Plessis and Alberts should be starting, adding those two would tip the balance significantly towards Springbok forward dominance. As it is, SA need to try to stay in the game until they come on in the second half, by then it may be too late.

“An old (white) man was subjected to an unprovoked attack in Auckland’s Sylvia Park mall with the offender announcing triumphantly to the crowd “one for the Maoris” as he swaggered away “like he had just won the World Heavyweight Championship”.
Goston told the court he put his bag down on a table in the food court when he heard someone saying “f*** c***” and “f****** whitey” to him.
As he looked up, the “powerfully built” Maori man with his hair in a bun “like the Maori chieftains of old” came advancing towards him.
Goston said he turned to other customers nearby and asked if they would witness what was going on.
He said he felt himself grabbed from behind and slammed onto the ground.
“I was in the foetal position on the ground. He clenched his fist and raised it up in the air.
“Then, in a quiet and strangely calm sounding manner, he said ‘one for the Maoris, folks’. Then he swaggered off like he had just won the World Heavyweight Championship.”
Goston said he sustained bruising to the left of his body and a damaged knee.
He said he had previously had two heart attacks, a major stroke that left him half-blind in one eye and had endured open-heart surgery.”

Like cab says the poor maestro is a slave to his own integrity.. he is loyal to an absolute FAULT
And for THAT I say he deserves to win this WC.. just to PROVE that loyalty and faith goes way beyond common sense or rational reason…
HOWEVER
The real excruciating reality of it is BISMARK HAS TO START…and so should Alberts and Hougaard ahead of Spies and FdP
So whether loyalty in the end is SUFFICIENT to overcome ALL ODDS and FAITH beckons SO f’ng BLIND that even miracles ensue.. well that will be left for the rugby gods to determine come Sunday AM our time..
But unfortunately I don’t buy into superstitions and prayers to deities to deliver us from out of our bondage of dumb fck ignoramus idiocy when it comes down to selecting the BEST to do the JOB on the PARK.. That is where sometimes you have to weigh up what is best for the COLLECTIVE team in the final analysis and NOT for the ambitious seeking self worshiping idolized aura who has ridden rough shod over ANY last demeanor of simple common rugby sense.

Is your guilt getting to you that you now have to write so copiously, probably after a few glasses of wine for a boost? Is the worry at W H O R E St. getting to you? Are you not wasting your time worrying about the wrong Jobs? Are the genuine concerns for the real jobs for the jobless not a more noteworthy consideration?
That is far too much reqired reading between your lines for me to waste time on.
From the little sketchy bits I have read let me say life is simple and I am just a S. African ‘black’ who has never ever supported any S. A. national team in any sport because of racism or its newest form neo-racism ( and believe it or not there are millions like me).
I am in the US to do research, and more, on a green card that needs to be renewed by 2013. I am paid for those endeavours so what has ” the Founding Fathers ” (all dead) have to do with my reason for being here? I work well they pay equally well.
In your extreme misguided desperation, mucked up with YOUR sick view on nationalism and patriotism you clutch at a boyhood team, Leeds. Your referencees may well be all correct but you do not know as you are at best relying on second hand information. If a player or more or some fans are racist can any club be so considered to be racist? Worse still I have never ever associated personally with any English Leeds fan let alone a racist one so where exactly is the problem.
What questions of racism seemingly applies to Leeds surely has to apply to all English clubs, including Man. U. as England shipped out RACISM to all corners of this globe like none other.
Since you may be too deep in that bottle by now , just finish it and do not bother to reply.
The ” Day of Reckoning ” is at hand and you all seem to be messing your undies as a result.
Ponder the devastation of the result, if not Sunday then next week or the week thereafter.
