Jean de Villiers will be given the rest of the week to recover in time to face Samoa in Pretoria. Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer wants his captain to lead the side in the Boks final international of the month. If De Villiers does not recover from the chest injury, Jan Serfontein will start at inside centre. Morne Steyn again starts ahead of Pat Lambie. Willem Alberts will also be given the next 48 hours to prove his fitness. Adriaan Strauss retains the run on No 2 jersey while Bismarck du Plessis is nursed back after nine months out of the game. Boks - 15. Willie le Roux, 14. Bryan ... Read Article1 Jun 2013
The Bulls are South Africa's best team and they proved it in Bloemfontein. The Cheetahs have been outstanding all season and they were as good on Saturday night as they have been at any stage. Still it wasn't good enough to beat the Bulls, who won 30-25 after leading 30-13 with 10 minutes to play. The Cheetahs finished brilliantly and deserved the bonus point, but the Bulls consolidated their top two league placing thanks to an imposing first hour. Pierre Spies was impressive as team and pack leader, Arno Botha was ever present and the No 9, 10, 12 Bulls axis of Francois Hougaard, Morne ... Read Article11 Jun 2013
Brendan Venter's appointment as Sharks Director of Rugby is a good one. But the decision to end John Plumtree's Sharks coaching tenure is not. Former Springbok and Italy coach Nick Mallett turned down an invitation for the role of Sharks Director of Rugby and Venter, formerly the head coach and Director of Rugby at Saracens, will start his job at the outset of the Currie Cup season. Plumtree remains the Super Rugby head coach until the end of this season's tournament but his contract has not been renewed. Plumtree is highly rated in Europe and will in all likelihood link up with a European ... Read Article8 Jun 2013
Rene Ranger was among the few highlights in New Zealand's 23-13 win against France in Auckland. The All Blacks led 17-10 at half time but France dominated field position for most of the match and enjoyed the greater quality in possession. However they couldn't translate the advantage in the set phase and at the breakdown into points. New Zealand defended well in a match of poor quality. France lead early through Wesley Fofana's try and it took Ben Smith's break to start up New Zealand's international season. Smith has been the form New Zealand back in Super Rugby and he looked a class ... Read Article27 May 2013
Kiwi Vern Cotter is Scotland's new head coach. Cotter will only take up the position in a year's time. He will see out his contact with French club Clermont. Cotter's appointment means that New Zealanders will coach Scotland, Ireland (Joe Schmidt) and Wales (Warren Gatland). New Zealander Robbie Deans has been at the helm of Australia for the last five years and current Blues coach John Kirwan coached Italy and Japan. Kiwi coaches have also been at the helm of Samoa and Fiji in recent years. Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article6 Oct 2011

Yeah, I remember how everyone in the ’80s were declaring dead. Anyone who’s been involved in IT realises the massive contribution that Jobs has made, and not just to IT, DTP, music etc. but also to computer animated films with Pixar.
It’s hard to think of anyone who’s had the impact in so many areas of the digital world.

@Slumtown(Slumtown)-344:
If you have the time you can make a quick list and i’ll add it to my note, usually I just download it throught the day and vibe to it on my way home or early in the morning.

@David(David)-351:
Sorry, that should read “declaring UNIX dead”

.. Campervan site??
Remember that rugby was designed to destroy the AB’s, the biggest threat to white supremacy. The RWC provides a stage to manufacture a victory for white supremacist. They only need to win one tournament every 4 years to sell their brand.
6 Oct 2011, 12:04 pm
oh Keo has banned the word j-esus
6 Oct 2011, 12:05 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-341: Yes was gonna say he is there to cover for JdV not only for injury but if he don’t shape up.
My feeling if Lambie had to slot into 10 it would be like a duck takes to water. He is even better there than fb. But for now he is playing well at the back and he is a safe player there for us. So has to stay there.
Did you see my post back to yours when you mentioned moving Burger to 8 and Flo to 7 with Brussow at 6. I thought it was a brillant idea that. Pocock will never get near our ball……hahaha.

That would be the way to go I’d feel, as I can’t see John going full tilt for 80 minutes anyway.

sssshhhh.
you will confuse him.
langers only has a political interest in rugby.
which is why his @rse and his elbow are interchangeable.
6 Oct 2011, 12:09 pm
@Puma(Puma)-356: Yeah I replied post 332.
I also think Lambie will handle but it could be a bit much too ask – if he has a wobble he could struggle and with place kicking being so important I think its good thinking having Butch as backup.

Hey Fern what you think about Smitty the Fatty starting?
6 Oct 2011, 12:10 pm
Alrighty.
To the Bokke, I dont actually give a shart who plays this weekend. Im going to back you and back you all the way. Its not who plays but how you play thats more important.
Dominate the collisions and dont kick good ball away. That is all.
Bring it.

@Slumtown(Slumtown)-359:
Where do you get all this stuff, what part of the HipHop universe are they from?
Usually when I dig for new material I always end up in a familiar place.
6 Oct 2011, 12:11 pm
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-352: haha – I have a massive list unofrtunately – I´m a complete music freak and across mutliple genres
I´m a psytrance dj as well and used to play all the big festivals in Cape Town and around Sa. So i could carry on for days and days with recommendations from Trip hop to dub and drum n bass and all the way to industrial and country. lol I just love good music. Maybe we should connect in another way so we dont hassle all the rugger heads? Cos man have I got a big list of recommendations hehe.
6 Oct 2011, 12:12 pm
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-368: thats more leaning toward lounge and trip hop. as I say mutliple genres. But I always look for similar stuff with the same spirit.

@David(David)-351: I would say that his biggest contribution to the world has been Pixar because those guys have just opened up that genre in such a huge way and the moral undercurrent of Pixar movies is so great. I can happily let my 4 year old watch one after another Pixar movie because the intent and the message is so pure and the ideas are so good. Its something that simply cant be quantified.
6 Oct 2011, 12:16 pm
@Tacitus(Deucalion)-2: Absolutely Tac.
If Lambie was at 10 then definitely we can have JDJ at 12 with Aplon at the back with Hougie on the wing. With JPP on the other wing. BUT if Morne is at 10 then no way can we have JdJ at inside centre mate. Then we have to have Butch to cover at 12.
6 Oct 2011, 12:16 pm
@Puma(Puma)-342:
yeah bud.. i’m with you and have posted ad nauseum about why people need to a) trash one player to demonstrate support of another… and b) have to insult someone who has a different opinion to their’s… everyone’s entitled to their personal foibles… but not necessary to get so personal…
boring i know…
but also really enjoy the good natured banter that can cut close to the bone without drawing blood…!!
Well thanks Puma and you??? Always well… believe attitude is a personal choice to make every day…!!
Yeah… i’m nervous as all hell… can hardly sit still… i really believe we have the players to win it… and do believe starting js is the right move and have been saying from the start of the controversy that i’d always start with smit and then sub him off the park for bissy who could then wreak havoc in a more open game created by the inevitable tired legs as fatigue sets it…
was chatting with ranger before the comp and we both said we think we can win the cup when most people were predicting we wouldn’t get through the pools…
personally i believe experience is THE most vital ingredient for world cup success…
so there will be people who say ‘i told you so’ should we lose on sunday… but i’m comfortable that we’ve got the best team and squad… and think pdvivvies done an excellent job and barring one or two players most of us would do the same thing…
so can’t blame the coaches IMO should we lose… the guys just have to bring it… everything they’ve got… leave their DNA on the field… if they do… i think we’ll win comfortably….
said long ago i believe aussie will win 2015 when their talented kids have more street smarts to go with their sublime skills… but think they’re not there for this wc…
6 Oct 2011, 12:16 pm
@J.B. Cowper(J.B. Cowper)-348: Baffling after his good performances against the Aussies and All Blacks back in SA? The problem with us Bok supporters is we have helluva short memories.
6 Oct 2011, 12:17 pm
@youknowwho(The Nazi Hunter)-354:
Destroy the AB’s.
Not sure how you figure that out Shuan.
If that were the case,
NZ would never have been given Home Advantage.
6 Oct 2011, 12:19 pm
@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-350:
Listen carefully, I take it as a personal insult that you might believe that I don’t support the Boks and that I somehow want them to lose so I can say to okes like you I told you so. Up yours man.
I have been a passionate Bok supporter since 1976; I have followed them around the country and spent thousands and thousands of rands in test tickets, air fares and memorabilia supporting them over the years.
I don’t need the likes of you (sharks first Boks second type) telling me what I am thinking or how I should support the team. I will criticize selections if I think they are detrimental to the Boks cause.
So don’t come on here and try and label me a non bok supporter just because I don’t agree with Smit starting , screw you man, who do you think you are !!
6 Oct 2011, 12:19 pm
@David(David)-358: The racism was too blatant but even then just about every country including NZ welcomed tours to and from SA..
Have you heard the story of Jesse Owens and how FDR refused to be seen with a black american hero. Even though the twats found a racist tag to be political suicide they could not stop themselves from being twats when they assumed nobody was looking.. Gunther is a lot like FDR.. His dad supposedly fought the Nazis but he gets pissed off with black achievement
6 Oct 2011, 12:19 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-363: Jeez you know I hardly refresh the page. Just straight after submitting then just look to the above post and answer something there…….hahahaha. I miss many posts back to me.. So missed your answer back. Will check..lol.
6 Oct 2011, 12:20 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-373:
So true.
6 Oct 2011, 12:22 pm
@cane(cane)-377: SA managed to be gifted a RWC freshly out of isolation.. How long did NZ have to wait
6 Oct 2011, 12:22 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-369:
Definitely man, I love to cut a few samples and lay a few drum patters down but ye when we connect I can give you more detail on that.
You remind me of a guy from varsity, we did sound engineering together at city varsity 06/07. He was a big crate digger and part time drumnbass trip hop DJ, used to play sometimes and Longstreet at orchard at the time. Sometimes I’d go with him when he’d go looking for old records Malibu, back then I wasn’t really that deep into sampling though.
6 Oct 2011, 12:24 pm
@Puma(Puma)-374:
That assumes that Butch is an effective defender, as opposed to just a flashy one-big-hit-two missed-tackles pretend defender.
6 Oct 2011, 12:25 pm
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-383: for sure – I probably dont know him cos I´m more form than 96 school hehe. drop me a mail at grproclean.es@gmail.com
6 Oct 2011, 12:27 pm
@ufo(ufo)-375: Good post ufo as always.
I am just nervous as heck. I too think we doing the right thing by starting with Smit. Have always said it and will stick by that. Bissie will cause havoc with tired legs. We can weigh up the situation in front of us. If we need to bring him in earlier we do so, if not then bring him on for the 2nd half or last 35min. Wish Beast was there. He is not so have to forget about it.
My support is behind the Boks all the way. Just really want us to make it to the semi at least. Want to see us playing ABs in a world cup again, especially on their soil. Would love the Boks to beat them in a wc on home soil that would be the ultimate for me. Then of course the cup….
Pity Fransie is out. I feel it is a massive loss. But JdV has everything to play for now. He has to step it up.
6 Oct 2011, 12:29 pm
@Puma(Puma)-386: Well said
6 Oct 2011, 12:29 pm
Got to go.. chat later
6 Oct 2011, 12:31 pm
@Tacitus(Deucalion)-384: For now we have JdV there. So hope he steps it up. Fransie set a bench mark there. With Morne we will always need a big strong 12 Tac. With Lambie we can have JdJ with Aplon at the back. That will be the future. For now Morne is there and he will play there until the end of this wc. So hope JdV has a blinder there. If not they will bring on Butch.
6 Oct 2011, 12:31 pm
@youknowwho(The Nazi Hunter)-382:
We didn’t wait long at all Shaun.
We won the first one in 87.
Oz won the 2nd.
Your lot poisoned us at the 3rd.
And we have had a bit of bad luck ever since.

@Slumtown(Slumtown)-385:
Dropped you some mail now, quickly as a DJ from SA i presume, do you yourself do Chop & Skrew mixes or do you know of anybody in SA that does?
I link with this guy from the States, think I can put his stage name here, DJ Chance Jones, you can hear his stuff if you look him up on reverbnation.
Usually I send my mixes to him if i need some chops & skrews
6 Oct 2011, 12:38 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-332: Good post again ST. Agree.
6 Oct 2011, 12:39 pm
Okay I am off to lunch. Cheers all.
Catch up later.
6 Oct 2011, 12:40 pm
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-392: No have no idea what a Chop and skrew mix is lol.
6 Oct 2011, 12:48 pm
@Slumtown(Slumtown)-395:
You did say you’re from the real old skool
It’s a technique that was born in the South.
You’ve probably heard it before, basically they drop the tempo of a track and at the same time you know the pitch will drop so everything sounds heavy. This is on the entire final mix, with instruments and vocals.
After that they add their cuts and scratches with sick stretches at parts where you get the vocal along and things like that, guys like T.I sometimes release an entire Chop&Skrew version of their original albums.
6 Oct 2011, 12:48 pm
To assume that JS will damage his reputation beyond repair should the Boks lose on Sunday is rather prejudicial and let me illustrate. This WOrld Cup has the potential to go from being the “best ever” to one of the worst for every Kiwi supporter should England end up playing Australia in the final and Oz win. Does that necessarily make it the worst – NO however because of their own prejudices (:lol:) they may perceive it as such. The same argument goes for JS. Its only those with huge prejudices towards him that will consider his career/memory as a player being utterly destroyed should we lose. In their eyes he probably never had a career worth mentioning till now in any case.
6 Oct 2011, 12:54 pm

yes david… you’re absolutely correct…
6 Oct 2011, 12:54 pm

6 Oct 2011, 12:56 pm
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-396: no hadnt heard of it hehe that sounds really dope. Will check out that dj´s page on Reverbnation.
