Duane Vermeulen is out of the June Tests. Stormers strong man Duane Vermeulen returned home from the Stormers Super Rugby tour because of injury and conservatively won't play again until July. It could be that he is out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season as well because of knee ligament damage. Stormers loose-forward Rynhardt Elstadt is also out for at least six weeks as the Cape-based franchise's season went from bad to worse in Sydney. Vermeulen, Meyer's first choice No 8, will be nursed back to action for the Rugby Championship in August. His injury means a likely Bok start ... Read Article21 May 2013
JP Pietersen is set to miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season. Pietersen left the field of play in the Sharks’ victory over the Force, their final tour game. Pietersen’s scans revealed that the winger, who did duty at outside centre, will require surgery to rectify a groin injury. Pietersen was playing in the 13 jersey following a serious injury to Paul Jordaan and Tim Whitehead not taking part in rugby this season to date. Pietersen’s injury is a big loss for the Sharks, yet the bigger problem is which player will wear the 13 jersey this weekend against the Bulls. The Bulls ... Read Article25 Apr 2013
Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article13 Oct 2011

The IRB would say that, wouldn’t they.
Jislaaik this is the 1st time I’ve seen this Rusty Theron chap. Looks pretty average.
13 Oct 2011, 21:21 pm
I see Panther LIED again today and was then rather embarrassingly and publicly rapped over the knuckles for it.
Have to watch this LIAR closely, he likes telling little porky pies in his desperation to run down SA.
Like: “Australia had a winning record over SA during JW’s coaching tenure.”

@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-477:
Shut up knobber.
Nobody cares what you want.
You are acting like a 3 year old.

The Sharks must have the most over-the-hill centres in the entire Currie Cup.
Terblanche
Joubert
Jacobs
Bosman
Keep this lot for the S15 next year and it’s night-night.

So saying that then all these times us Kieis have been told by you lot that we through so many forwrd passes and get away with it in fact going by the video you are so proud off, our passes are not forward.
Now that means the call from the South African TMO with the kiwi forward pass was also in correct.
Thanks katman for clearing all this nonsence up.

@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-497:
Dont be daft.
We all know Brycie botched up the game. But SA made just as many errors as he did. All the eyes are on the ref yet the way i see it is yep the ref was bad but worse were the Boks. You have the best #10 kicker in the world. He can drop kick with great acurracy under 40 metres. SA had penalties but took the lineout.
Its easy to blame the ref but whats hard to blame is reality.
Boks fukd up,easy.
In 2007 we were laughed at cos we didnt really take a drop kick and didnt have a person in the team that could drop kick, you were correct, but worse is having a drop kick specialist,having 60% + territory and what 65%+ possesion and only try was it 1 drop kick.
Again Boks fukd up.

@mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-511: I don’t know but does Plumtree seem rather reluctant to blood young players?
The Sharks had a cr*p S15 this year. It was made pretty obvious that a back line of players such as Bosman, Terblanche, Ludik, Odwa etc is not going to win them the trophy.
And then they go and buy Marius Joubert
The Sharks’ forwards are good. The backs are cr*p.
The Currie Cup would have been the perfect opportunity to give a few of the younger players a go.
An injury here or there to some of these “old codgers” and they will have a problem.
13 Oct 2011, 22:13 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-514: that post was solely for Black Panther’s attention. Sorry, I will make it more clear in future.

@Markel77(Markel77)-517:
Where is Alberts??
Where is captain Keegan Daniel?
13 Oct 2011, 22:20 pm
@Markel77(Markel77)-517: Hola.
Rhodes is with the Lions now.
13 Oct 2011, 22:23 pm
@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-504: There’s no chance Frans Steyn will come back is there?
13 Oct 2011, 22:26 pm
@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-515: Its time for Terblanche to retire. Along with Odwa. He must make way for Sithole who is the hope for the future. Plum needs to blood Sithole in the S15.
Just thank f Smit is gone. Now Bismarck gets to start every game!
13 Oct 2011, 22:28 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-514: Totally agree. I’ve watched 75% of the game and I’m shocked at how dominant we were. How we lost that game is beyond me. Really poor decision-making by FdP.
13 Oct 2011, 22:28 pm
Hola Wooden
It was inexcusable, ¡¡¡I forgot Willem Alberts!!!!! sorry guys
BUT i dont rate Keegan, better play with youngsters like Coetzee, Kleinhans….
Rhodes is in the Lions so play at 5 with Bresler or Hargreaves
13 Oct 2011, 22:35 pm
@mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-511: sshit!!! that would be a cooking backline sbali anyone of those boys ushisa BHE!!!!! piping hot
13 Oct 2011, 22:38 pm
@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-515: WTF is going on at the Sharks? They just buy rubbish. Joubert, Bosman, Potgieter and let’s not forget that Goode fella. Surely there is talent coming through their academy? Or will they lose players like Rhodes and Whitley for not using them.
13 Oct 2011, 22:39 pm
you go get forkd gunthagwat take your poefta skittish skittle sticky ****** game and shove your poefta sport where it belongs.. go talk your skittish skittle sticking squealing game someplace else….
13 Oct 2011, 22:39 pm
@Samba Bok(JayDaFiveOh)-523:
Samba, its a head scratcher really.
In a 3 nations game the boks would have won i believe but i think they may have panicked and started to run out of ideas.
Brussow getting injured was the big turner i think.
The breakdowns were getting less and less policed as the game wore on.
Now i would have my money on Brussow winning even more ball off the ozzies if he stayed on.
But it was one of those games where the boks had to much ball and didnt really know what to do with it…….maybe. I dont know, as said it was a very confusing game to watch,especially the outcome
13 Oct 2011, 22:39 pm
What a bladdy let-down this tournament was, 90mins of playoff rugby and homejames.
We shoulda beeen playing the ABs this weeknd instead now we got no interest.
Bladdy horrendous – such wasted talent.
13 Oct 2011, 22:39 pm
@wooden spoon(wooden spoon)-497:
talking of “sour”
Pinetree Meads says
“the Sth Africans have been giving it to Bryce the last few days but, to me, its just a terrible case of sour grapes.You know, if theyd got up and won the game, if that late drop goal had gone over, there’d be none of this. Thats the difference. And you know he mightnt have had a great game – but so have plemnty of other great refs over the years – and its not the reason SA lost. Regardless its still sour grapes from SA. If you think back to NZ when they got knocked out, our selectors and coaches barely criticised the referee. Everyone else did – but thats our prerogative. Whoever this head of SA referees is – A.Watson – we realise SA refs are pretty good at tghe moment but they havent always been that way. I could tell you a few stories about SA refs in the past. But that would just be sour grapes”.
hey Piney, now the Safas have been reduced to supporting a ref in the RWC – oh irony, delicious gorgeous IRONY !
13 Oct 2011, 22:39 pm
I hope Joubert is on a one year contract with the Sharks because he is k@k.

Spot on.
You can understand sort off how we felt watching England go right through to the final in 2007. Pathetic.
13 Oct 2011, 22:43 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-532:
could do with a whole shedload of beer, but i been teetotally the last 6 months, never been so healthy in my life – but this fkn horrible demise is enough to get well and truly sauced.
13 Oct 2011, 22:44 pm
@Tuna(Tuna)-526: It’s astonishing isn’t it?
Isn’t Streauli in charge of recruitment? Streauli never once started the same 15 when he was Bok coach… Not sure why they ever took him back on again.
But I also reckon Plumtree has reached his ceiling. Time for a new coach and fresh ideas.
13 Oct 2011, 22:44 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-533:
bladdy terrible – **** at least a semifinal wouldve been good.

The finest and cheapest wine you will ever encounter….. 1 Euro 50 for a BOTTLE of really, really good Sauvignon Blanc
No wonder I am perpetually pissed here…
13 Oct 2011, 23:25 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-474: I hear ya man. I’m also pretty angry. Its not just Smit to blame its Matfield. Smitfield is what I call the Boks of 2011.
We should’ve easily one that game. PdV and Rassie must also take responsibility along FdP who did not go for more drop goals. Had Frans Steyn been playing in that match we would’ve won.
13 Oct 2011, 23:27 pm
@Bod(bod)-548:
LMAO one euro fifty, nothing wrong Bodders
