Duane Vermeulen is out of the June Tests. Stormers strong man Duane Vermeulen returned home from the Stormers Super Rugby tour because of injury and conservatively won't play again until July. It could be that he is out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season as well because of knee ligament damage. Stormers loose-forward Rynhardt Elstadt is also out for at least six weeks as the Cape-based franchise's season went from bad to worse in Sydney. Vermeulen, Meyer's first choice No 8, will be nursed back to action for the Rugby Championship in August. His injury means a likely Bok start ... Read Article20 May 2013
GREGOR PAUL, in the Herald on Sunday, writes world rugby will get its integrated season after the 2015 World Cup and Super Rugby won't break to accommodate an international window. Super Rugby will shift to a March start and won't break for test matches, the June window will be shifted to July and all players will have a 14 to 16-week off-season. Other innovative plans are being discussed, such as building a world series of tests in years that fall between the World Cup and British Lions tours. The revolution that All Black coach Steve Hansen called for last week is coming. The players ... Read Article25 Apr 2013
Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article13 Oct 2011

@Black Panther(Black Panther)-137: he did, apparently on twitter
happy now?
now let’s get back to your “EP” episode. which is it BP, touch ONLY the padding or touch both ground and padding?
13 Oct 2011, 12:19 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-144: hi hurricane, please solve this conundrum for our dunce Black Pantyliner here…for a try to be score does a player need to touch only the padding or both the ground and padding?
13 Oct 2011, 12:20 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-151:
well done, Transformation.
gee, it only took you, what, 18months ?
i might be wrong tho. Might only be 17.
13 Oct 2011, 12:21 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-149: liar or as HG would say “fibby fib fib”
belly wobble that.
13 Oct 2011, 12:23 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-152:
damn it, i said you wouldnt answer BP question but you did.
But for your question i would say it depends on how id reffing
13 Oct 2011, 12:23 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-155:
Sorry ” who is reffing “
13 Oct 2011, 12:24 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-151:
“apparently on twitter”
“apparently” ?
What I think you mean is ‘Keo on twatter as publised here on keo.co.za’
apparently
forensics huh, never an EXACT science.
13 Oct 2011, 12:25 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-153: please rationalise this post and show us where any mention of the ball being “grounded” comes into play, as only an ex-liar *ahem* lawyer like you can

@>^..^< katman(katman)-1119:
I dunno, what do you think “The goal posts and padding surrounding….against a goal post or padding” means then ?
touch the ball against the padding and its a Try. Are you telling me youve never seen this before ?
Your condescending tone amuses me, please continue.

What criteria should be used to choose the next Bok coach?
Superugby experience? Our last two coaches did not have it.
International experience? That rules out everyone except Mallet, Mitchell and White?
Success as head coach? Out goes Alistair.
I believebour head coach should be someone who had demonstrated an ability to get the best out of his players, who is focussed on success, who is innovative and understands that rugby is a cerebral game and constantly presenting new challenges, and who is smart enough and professional enough to employ the right assistants and specialists. He must also be the undisuted boss.
Whoever best meets these standards would by my choice.

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-155:
it appears youve got the letters around the wrong way around
dont you mean
‘who’ instead of ‘how’ ?
13 Oct 2011, 12:26 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-151
Both.
(I think).
Otherwise players could just run up to the post, and tap the ball against the padding.
And……………………………………as I have never seen that.
So I say both.
13 Oct 2011, 12:27 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-158:
is this a trap ?
13 Oct 2011, 12:28 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-161:
yeah do it all the time, but i fixed it in the next post
13 Oct 2011, 12:28 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-155: the amusing this is that I, Transformation was the one who asked Pantyliner, earnestly, if Keo has ever in an article said “NZ rugby is kak”
his next post to me was “is this a trap?”…incredulous
come on Hurricane, BP is going to be at EP again this weekend and he needs to brush up on this little “grey area”…so please “only padding” or “both turf and padding”?
13 Oct 2011, 12:30 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-165:
Tran, its padding and turf
13 Oct 2011, 12:30 pm

@cane(cane)-162: oh, you’re such a saviour CANE, God bless you Lower Hutt native
13 Oct 2011, 12:33 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-158:
ball does not need to cross the line.
the padding and post is seen as an extension of the line, despite the padding extending in front of the line.
“”touch the turf before the line…..lean forward and hit the padding”.
von Trapp, Ive never ever had a problem admitting when Im wrong – it usually takes me 18mins, not 18mths. You clearly have little regard for the notion of ‘integrity’, presumably you sleep in a bath.
13 Oct 2011, 12:33 pm
Rubbing Saffas the wrong way had brought many to climax.
13 Oct 2011, 12:34 pm
It’s always been both… who the hell doesn’t know that does’t know rugby…
for the record…
Law 22: In Goal
22.4 Other ways ro score a try
b) Grounded against a goal post. The goal posts and padding surrounding them are part of the goal line, which is part of in-goal. If an attacking player is first to ground the ball ground the ball against a goal post or padding, a try is scored.
13 Oct 2011, 12:36 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-166: Kia Kaha mate…in my native language we say “Enkosi” – thank you.
now our resident dunce/ex-lawyer/contortionista can admit he was completely wrong to say:

13 Oct 2011, 12:40 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-170: ok BP, when did you learn that you also had to hit the turf, before or after leaving Eden Park?
13 Oct 2011, 12:40 pm
@cane(cane)-175:
hahahaha
13 Oct 2011, 12:40 pm

@Transformation(Transformation)-165:
Now youre just out’n'out LYING.
The point was whether “Keo had ever said ‘NZ rugby is kak’”, which i mentioned in the post-2010 reverse-spanking. Along with SA’s “incredible depth” (fnaar).
you thought you’d FINALLY caught wind of my BSing – because you’d been stalking me for years without a hint of success – and you kept asking and kept asking. And the more I didnt answer, the more you thought you were right (in fact, I was merely busy with work – surprise !)
and the very second i produced the evidence you merely
*DISAPPEARED*
and you know Im telling the truth, von Trapp. I know and you know.
Youre totally and absolutely spineless. Worse than Boy George. Not a complete fking moron, like Boy George, cause I suspect youre actually a good man. But totally devoid of a spine nevertheless.

13 Oct 2011, 12:50 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-181: blah blah blah, put spin on it… all you want it’s all here on the web in indelible ink
just to get this out of the way…you were wrong in suggesting “touch the ball against the padding and its a Try.”
and you were also totally out of order when you cast aspersions on shaun veldsman by saying:
“did you see that Richie McCaw scored a legitimate try against the post vs Argies last pm, and yet the TMO inexplicably ruled it ‘No Try’. It was the 3rd such ruling by TMOs against the All Blacks in the past 12mths. Have ONE guess which nation supplied all 3 of those TMOs?.”
let’s see this “intergrity” on display

@Transformation(Transformation)-173:
gawd, now youre even mimicing Boy George
“schwwweeeeet”
you do realise than Boy George has absoluuuuutely ZERO original content of his own, dont you ?
so now youre mimicing the mimic.
did you know that some species of cuckoo are ‘brood parasites’, ie they lay their eggs in another birds nest thereby relieving themselves of having to hatch them themselves. Because theyre inherently lazy.
