MARK KEOHANE, in Business Day Newspaper, writes the Boks gained more the battle in Nelspruit. Rather a scrap than a sensational effort against a courageous but limited Scotland. The Springbok coaching staff gained more because of the struggle against Scotland and there certainly won’t be complacency against Samoa. South African rugby supporters tend to be reactionary and very different in their reactions every weekend. When New Zealand struggled to beat France in the first Test in Auckland and South Africa were brilliant in patches against Italy many on social networks expressed confidence ... The Bulls are South Africa's best team and they proved it in Bloemfontein. The Cheetahs have been outstanding all season and they were as good on Saturday night as they have been at any stage. Still it wasn't good enough to beat the Bulls, who won 30-25 after leading 30-13 with 10 minutes to play. The Cheetahs finished brilliantly and deserved the bonus point, but the Bulls consolidated their top two league placing thanks to an imposing first hour. Pierre Spies was impressive as team and pack leader, Arno Botha was ever present and the No 9, 10, 12 Bulls axis of Francois Hougaard, Morne ... Read Article11 Jun 2013
Brendan Venter's appointment as Sharks Director of Rugby is a good one. But the decision to end John Plumtree's Sharks coaching tenure is not. Former Springbok and Italy coach Nick Mallett turned down an invitation for the role of Sharks Director of Rugby and Venter, formerly the head coach and Director of Rugby at Saracens, will start his job at the outset of the Currie Cup season. Plumtree remains the Super Rugby head coach until the end of this season's tournament but his contract has not been renewed. Plumtree is highly rated in Europe and will in all likelihood link up with a European ... Read Article8 Jun 2013
Rene Ranger was among the few highlights in New Zealand's 23-13 win against France in Auckland. The All Blacks led 17-10 at half time but France dominated field position for most of the match and enjoyed the greater quality in possession. However they couldn't translate the advantage in the set phase and at the breakdown into points. New Zealand defended well in a match of poor quality. France lead early through Wesley Fofana's try and it took Ben Smith's break to start up New Zealand's international season. Smith has been the form New Zealand back in Super Rugby and he looked a class ... Read Article27 May 2013
Kiwi Vern Cotter is Scotland's new head coach. Cotter will only take up the position in a year's time. He will see out his contact with French club Clermont. Cotter's appointment means that New Zealanders will coach Scotland, Ireland (Joe Schmidt) and Wales (Warren Gatland). New Zealander Robbie Deans has been at the helm of Australia for the last five years and current Blues coach John Kirwan coached Italy and Japan. Kiwi coaches have also been at the helm of Samoa and Fiji in recent years. Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article13 Oct 2011

I see Facebook petition hits 67000 for Mr Law-rence, or Law- nerens maybe Law-erens.
I see he quit reffing, becuase as a breakdown specialist, he was offered a job at Black Berry.
He was the guy that gave Beast a penalty for dangerous play , for waiting to engauge in a scrum in S15 , look at it on Youtube.

i’ll sing this one to you on sunday cane…i’ll sing this ont to you on sunday…
8)
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…
And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…
If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing.
And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…
For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin – give the audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life’s a piece of ****
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ‘em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the right side of life…
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the bright side of life…
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life…
(I mean – what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing – you’re going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life…

@Gunther(gunther)-304: these aussies are hardegat
“It’s a ground that’s hosting the semi-final of a World Cup. It’s going to be a big game, no matter where it was going to be held. It could be held in the park just down the road here, it’s still going to be a massive game. That’s the way we’re treating it.”
- Australia captain James Horwill really does not care where Sunday’s semi-final with New Zealand is held, as long as the Wallabies emerge victorious from the Eden Park clash.
“That would be a bit of a tough one for them to swallow, but I’m sure that they’ve got a lot more things to worry about than myself. They’re supposed to have won the World Cup for the past three tournaments and this is no different. A lot of pressure is on them to win this competition on their home soil, so I’m sure they’ll be worrying about how they go about their game, more so than myself.”
- Wallabies’ New Zealand-born fly half Quade Cooper believes the All Blacks have greater issues to focus on than him possibly scoring the winning points at the weekend.

@Gunther(gunther)-304: did you watch the show Reunion last night? oooohh i enjoyed it…TJ ft Stuart Barnes, Willie Lose and Greg “Marto” Martins…it was rivetting stuff

@Fern is not a stud,he is merely no19(Fern)-308:
Thank you for your valuable input, but what does his age have to do with anything.
13 Oct 2011, 15:14 pm
@Black Panther(Black Panther)-130: Hey Pantie, you really should avoid being such a deceitful snake. It’s not good for the image, bro.
In a nutshell, you were all outraged that a try for McCheat wasn’t awarded after he clearly had placed the ball against the post. Shock, horror.
I then pointed out to you that it had to be GROUNDED against the post – i.e. on the ground.
To which you replied, in two separate but equally sarcastic and bitchy posts, the following:
“1118.Black Panther:
10 Oct 2011, 11:44 am
@defunkt(defunkt)-1113:
only needs to touch the padding or post, which it clearly did.”
and
“1120.Black Panther:
10 Oct 2011, 12:18 pm
@>^..^< katman(katman)-1119:
I dunno, what do you think “The goal posts and padding surrounding….against a goal post or padding” means then ?
touch the ball against the padding and its a Try. Are you telling me youve never seen this before ?
Your condescending tone amuses me, please continue.”
I had to then quote and explain the IRB rule to you for a third time. And only then, after you realised what a complete and utter pillock you were, did you post the bit you quoted here, pretending that you spoke about grounding the ball all along.
Now I know it’s not fun being caught out. I know it’s embarrassing to make such massively stupid comments. I know it hurts to admit these things. But all of that is far less damaging than trying to alter evidence. That just makes you look like a snake in the grass. Not trustworthy. Skelm.
For your own sake, don’t do it. Just be a man.
13 Oct 2011, 15:14 pm
There’s an e-mail going around saying that CT is gonna get 300km per hour hurricane winds over the weekend.
13 Oct 2011, 15:16 pm
Where’s ufo
13 Oct 2011, 15:17 pm
@Gunther(gunther)-313: it was “belly wobbles” a-minute
TJ was leading that aaron cruden showed enough on the weekend that he is comfortable to mix it in the semi-final, without letting TJ finish Marto jumps and pours scorn on the suggestion hehehe “aw he did nothing on sunday, just one run that’s it. we’re not worried about aaron cruden” TJ got a bit peeved and tried to rattle Marto…
stuart barnes was just ripping flesh off martin johnson

Now that Pocock has also cleaned your boys up, will also be known as a cheat?

stuart barnes is a poison dwarf.
somebody should toss him.
13 Oct 2011, 15:25 pm
@NZINCHINA(NZINCHINA)-322:
Pocock doesn’t need re-naming.
He has it all.
13 Oct 2011, 15:27 pm
@NZINCHINA(NZINCHINA)-322: Well, he did cheat, didn’t he? Rugby scribes all over the world seem to think so. But I wouldn’t go so far as to label him a cheat, because he hasn’t done so consistently. It’s not his trademark move. McCaw however knows little else.
13 Oct 2011, 15:28 pm
@NZINCHINA(NZINCHINA)-322:
Pocock still doesn’t have the complete package.
He is nowhere when it comes to offensive blocking.
He still has much to learn.
13 Oct 2011, 15:28 pm
@Dawn(Dawn)-327:
The last time we played them at Eden Park he didn’t feature at all, lets hope that is the case on Sunday.
13 Oct 2011, 15:30 pm
@Tacitus(Deucalion)-70: I reckon that is rubbish. I am no great Flo fan, but I believe he helped stem the flood of ball lost to the Aussies on the ground. He also won a couple of penalties.
It was almost as if the game was too physical for Brussouw.
13 Oct 2011, 15:32 pm
@mshiniwami(mshiniwami)-94: With you there.
13 Oct 2011, 15:33 pm
@>^..^< katman(katman)-328:
its only a matter of time before you do.
@Gunther(gunther)-329:
fair enough, Kaino Read and McCaw will take care of him this weekend
Woodcock is now fit the Ab scrum will look to dominate.
13 Oct 2011, 15:34 pm
@Gunther(gunther)-329:
Have to disagree. Pocock is the most complete openside flanker in the world. I’d call him the best player in the world at the moment.
He cleans out more rucks on attack then any player who plays the game.
I can pull up some stats if you need?
13 Oct 2011, 15:34 pm
@Gunther(gunther)-326: he said jonno should never have been appointed to coach england, he was out of his depth having never coached anything in his life, it was a populist decision by the rfu that has failed.
13 Oct 2011, 15:36 pm
@hendrikp(hendrikp)-334: more than stegmann?
13 Oct 2011, 15:37 pm
@hendrikp(hendrikp)-334:
I remember in a Tri Nations game earlier this year, he made something like 42 effective clean-outs for the Wallabies against the All Blacks, with 2 ineffective.
On Saturday, he cleaned out Wallaby 19 times effectively, which is quite an achievement considering how little ball they had, and what he did on defense.
13 Oct 2011, 15:37 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-274: Oh dear Transie… isikhindi omnyama khala! Look what you have done
13 Oct 2011, 15:38 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-336:
You mean he hasn’t hung up his boots yet?
I won’t pay money to see that guy play again.
13 Oct 2011, 15:38 pm
@NZINCHINA(NZINCHINA)-333:
has your scrum done much dominating?
you have been talking it up for a while now.
I look forward to seeing some front row carnage from our kiwi cousins.
we must make sure craig doesn’t give the aussies any dodgy penalties.
13 Oct 2011, 15:39 pm
what was said about bryce lawrence on Reunion last night, anything?
these lucky fckers always get calibre south african refs, even in the superrugby.
we’re left with the antipodean incompetants.
no surprise that the Bulls drilled a new buthole in 2009…they had some decent south african reffing. all the other times, it’s been play like legends and pray like the pope….
13 Oct 2011, 15:41 pm
@Brigadier Van Zyl(Brigadier Van Zyl)-341: LOL
Nicely put.
13 Oct 2011, 15:41 pm
personally I see the kiwis winning this….
after bryce’s performance last weekend, joubert is going to blow the wobblies off the park.
wouldn’t be a surprise to see pocock in the bin
13 Oct 2011, 15:43 pm
@hendrikp(hendrikp)-334:
I think you have the dog by the balls mate.
I was talking about ritchie’s amazing ability to block opposition defenders al la gridiron.
but by all means put up whatever stats you want.
sharing is caring
13 Oct 2011, 15:44 pm
@Brigadier Van Zyl(Brigadier Van Zyl)-341:
They all said that it was South Africa’s fault for not scoring enough tries… completely ignoring the fact that Lawrence didn’t enforce the rules of the game, which counted against us as we were the ones with all the ball.
At least the Australians, outside of that Wallaby hooker (forgot his name?) all said that the Springboks should’ve won and they’d spent all week apologizing to South Africans – this happened on ‘The Rugby Club’.
13 Oct 2011, 15:45 pm
@NZINCHINA(NZINCHINA)-330:
yeah, but the last they played you at suncorp he did…you’d better hope more’s not the case indeed..
13 Oct 2011, 15:46 pm
@Gunther(gunther)-326: yeah,he is a poisonous guy no doubt and his own rugby calls are poor, he thinks Danny Cipriani should be England captain.
13 Oct 2011, 15:46 pm
@hendrikp(hendrikp)-345:
The Boks did score a try but the cheating idiot didn’t give it.
13 Oct 2011, 15:47 pm
@Gunther(gunther)-344:
Ah I see what you’re saying.
13 Oct 2011, 15:47 pm
@hendrikp(hendrikp)-345:
i’m left hoping joubert fcks up royally and it effects the outcome of this weekends game.
that should make for some good reading next week…
