Willie le Roux and Lappies Labuschagne have finally been rewarded with spots in the Springbok training group. They are two of eight that are first timers in Springbok training groups this year. The others are Gio Aplon, Trevor Nyakane, JJ Engelbrecht, Lionel Mapoe, Wiehahn Herbst and Demetri Catrakilis. The group of players will assemble in Durban for the second training camp of the year, before the final squad for the Incoming Tours is selected. Players not considered due to injury include: JP Pietersen, Jaco Taute, Frans Steyn, Johan Goosen, Duane Vermeulen, Pat Cilliers and Frans Malherbe. ... Read Article23 May 2013

Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article20 Oct 2011

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-490: Yes the same Boks that have lost more 3N than the other two teams in the antipodes…
Could it just be rugby reasons that the Boks tend to lose more than the other nations win in the 3N and S15?
Thats another story altogether.
SARU have a lot to answer for in allowing SA to be antipodean patsies. For sure.
20 Oct 2011, 13:35 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-488: I don’t buy it. SA lost the one weapon that would have combatted Pocock. Brussow’s departure was a blow as BL would have looked upon his flopping all over the ruck style with as much favour as he did Pocock’s. The gods must have seen fit to repay Brussow for his Hollywood dive vs Samoa.

@Skeppie(Skeppie)-499:
dude???
lol Rossoneri will slap you
20 Oct 2011, 13:36 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-480:
the ‘good for you’ was in your previous post… (but you know it…)
the incredulity was in post 436… but I’ll cut n paste it for you…
“you on the other hand would cheer for a springbok team where whites are barred from ever wearing the jersey and SARU is required by law to apply for permits to allow a small number of white parents and spectators into the stadium only if SARU will provide separate entrances, toilets, canteens etc and even then, only souties will be allowed.
”
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-481:
good for you… i’m not trying to make you… just trying to understand more fully… sincerely…
so… if the ANC said… “to right the wrongs of the past and for a little revenge as well we now declare that no white person shall ever represent south africa again… the springbok team shall not be called the springbok team… they will not wear green and gold or have a springbok anywhere in sight on the kit… they will wear the colours of our national flag… and everyone in the team will be black… and we will call them the black gnus (wildebeest being an afrikaans word after all) or black rhinos… and any white person who wants to watch them with have to pay special prices for special tickets and may only use the back entrance and must sit behind the poles…”
would you still support the ABs…?
20 Oct 2011, 13:36 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-496:
They are now attacking those among themselves who think differently.
RUGBY THOUGHT CRIME.
What next.
20 Oct 2011, 13:37 pm
@cane(cane)-497: Just Relax… The ABs are. Its all in the bag…
Absolutely no chance of underestimating France.
How can they possibly win.

Moving on from WC to CC now. What an exciting weekend of rugby. WC Final then the CC semi finals. Don’t know if anyone seen, but the sharks picked one good side for the show down against bogey side, the Cheetahs.

Pretty good side that, 14 internationals in that 22. Think the Cheetahs will give the sharks a run for their money, but a side like this should come out on top. I HOPE!

@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-503:
May he rot in hades.
20 Oct 2011, 13:38 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-489: I don’t really care what you feel. One could have sworn it was all about NZ rugby. Why did the NZ take their hate out against everything english? No it does not make sense to me.
Nor does it make sense to me the hatred that was shown towards Aaustralians in NZ.
Oh and another thing why was O’ Brien so apologetic to the Kiwis after the Italy AB game last year? Is it all about NZ rugby?
Pull your head in sunshine…2 wrongs do not make a right, but blatant cheating is another thing.
See why I feel fokkol for the Kiwis.
20 Oct 2011, 13:38 pm
@Skeppie(Skeppie)-499: Are you saying that one is only a South African if you like the Boks? Legally speaking you’re incorrect of course, I have an id that says differently, and there are many South African’s I love to pieces. My family for example.
20 Oct 2011, 13:38 pm
@Connag(1112Connag)-487:
That’s telling them!
NZ is suffering from a HUGE income gap with Aus.
Everyone in NZ is either in a grave or trying to get to Aus.
That is why Sanzar has to subsidise kiwi rugby.
Makes you wonder who the REAL losers are, hey?
To boot, it is a counrty with one hero throughout its history. You can only make so many statues of Edmund Hillary!
20 Oct 2011, 13:39 pm
sorry 15
20 Oct 2011, 13:39 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-501:
lol, Hg do you ever think for one minute that a team could be better than the Boks.
or any South African team/player?
Just wondering as it seem to you no one can match any South African player, unless they cheat or get a helping hand from someone else illegally.
20 Oct 2011, 13:39 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-507:
Easy…………………………………score more points the the AB’s.
They do this regularly.

After a stressful morning I would like to say thanks for that clip Katman…We may be considered a weak rugby playing hemisphere but farkit we know how to sing!!

@Helen(Helen)-494: Can you get banned for racism on this board or is it totally acceptable here.
20 Oct 2011, 13:40 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-496: Hmmm I am starting to hope the AB’s catch a klap on Saturday after all the dripping arrogance shown by AB supporters…Oh hold on…just because a few kiwi plonkers decide to act like ring muscles doesn’t mean all New Zealanders are like that…..don’t worry Ritchie, I am still supporting your boys this weekend.
20 Oct 2011, 13:40 pm
@Connag(1112Connag)-510: OK. You hate Kiwi’s and blame New Zealand citizen’s for what Bryce Lawrence did in a rugby match. Good Luck to you with that one. For the rest I couldn’t give a sh*t about your broken heart, for your team that lost. End of discussion.
20 Oct 2011, 13:41 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-504: Sorry…….is Bru better? (I am originally from Durban)
20 Oct 2011, 13:41 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-511:
Ross, so if your brother was picked for the Boks, would you still support the kiwis?
That is my point. If you live a in country, you see your fellow counrtymen as brothers and sisters and will support them.
20 Oct 2011, 13:41 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-495: So you have a sense of belonging wearing an AB jersey?
20 Oct 2011, 13:42 pm
Seems like i am at the wrong place to talk CC, only WC related here. I will have my input in that though. No Way the All Blacks can loose this one. NO FREAKEN WAY!!!
20 Oct 2011, 13:42 pm
@Helen(Helen)-512:
lol do you really want to know who the real losers are at the moment?
Anyway i have been to OZ and i would any day live in NZ. This country is awesome, your family lives here so you cant argue isnt that right?
20 Oct 2011, 13:42 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-484:
no rosso… i’m not insane and i understand the question as i said…
do you understand mine and why i’m asking it…?
BTW rosso… a couple of years back you were having a heated debate with much racial hatred being tossed about.. and you were getting pretty exasperated… at the time i said to you…”don’t let their hatred define you”… you didn’t think me insane then… so why resort to insults now just because i’m asking you a question…?
20 Oct 2011, 13:43 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-511: Well I dunno how you could possibly have a SA ID without signing that little contract…the one where you swear to burn out your own eyes should you ever stop supporting the boks…standard procedure at home affairs innit?
20 Oct 2011, 13:43 pm
@ufo(ufo)-505: Yes! Are we done, or will you come up with more race based scenarios. I already support another team. I don’t need your Boks, whether they wear pink tutu’s is irrelevant.
20 Oct 2011, 13:46 pm
@Connag(1112Connag)-522: More than I will ever have in a Bok jersey. @Helen(Helen)-521: I would tell him I hope he plays well, but he will know that I do not support his team. Easy.
20 Oct 2011, 13:47 pm
@carol(carol)-516:
Only the Welsh, not the whole hemisphere. Unless you include the Russians sing “The Song of the Volga Boatmen”.
20 Oct 2011, 13:48 pm
@Skeppie(Skeppie)-518:
Skeppie. I am sure you are not blind on the other posts that are happening around you?
Please tell me you dont agree with half these plonkers on here?
I back SA most of the times and have said it, i have no problems.
Congratulated the Boks on there good win in 2007,even though we were laughed at.
Were you on here before the 2010 tri nations?
We were told that SA should not tour unless we get better. Even posts from Keo and co saying NZ rugby is Kak.
Before you are to quick to point out the arrogance of Kiwis, you need to realise that your own backyard isnt that great.
20 Oct 2011, 13:48 pm
@Muttonbird(Muttonbird)-517:
It is totally acceptable here, so go ahead and say what you want to say…
20 Oct 2011, 13:48 pm
@ufo(ufo)-525: Things get lost in translation on a blog. What I meant is, you are saying emphatically that you would support a team, in a country that left you disenfranchised and no future for your kids. In other words, you are saying that pre 1994, all people of colour SHOULD HAVE EMPHATICALLY supported the Boks regardless of the rule of the day. That, to me, is insane.
20 Oct 2011, 13:48 pm
@Muttonbird(Muttonbird)-502: Of course you dont buy it.
Its a type of naivete.
Not many people “bought” the fact that Cricket was a corrupt sham.
Not many people “bought” the fact that Tour De France is crooked.
Not many people “bought” the Black Sox scandal.
Not many people could believe that the Olympic 100m final was won by cheats.
Not many people “bought” the fact that Soccer games in the Bundesliga were fixed.
And so on…
There is a point in all sport where corruption rears its ugly little head. The greater the amounts of money involved, the greater the stakes, the greater the opportunity.
The truth will out. Don’t worry.
20 Oct 2011, 13:48 pm
@Helen(Helen)-512: Helen and there is even some who think that the englishman Mallory beat him to the top. These cunning cheats have nothing. Plundered the Islands 2 decades ago and in cahoots with their cuzzies in Super 15 and Tri nations.
20 Oct 2011, 13:49 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-527:
thank you… not so hard was it…
and… BTW… i didn’t come up with the racial scenario… your bud transie did… i just thought it would be interesting to ask the same scenario of saffa ab supporters… trying to get a fuller understanding…
been an investing condo…
for the record… again…
i don’t care who people support and don’t think it makes them any less south african or patriotic…
i have congratulated the ab supports and you and mpundulu when the abs have won…
20 Oct 2011, 13:49 pm
@Sharkie10(Sharkie10)-523:
But they may “lose” it.
20 Oct 2011, 13:50 pm
@Skeppie(Skeppie)-526:
Very funny post. I enjoyed that.
20 Oct 2011, 13:50 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-514: Nope. Refer to my earlier posts. The Boks were bettered, fairly and honestly, in RWC 1999 and RWC 2003.
20 Oct 2011, 13:51 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-528:
Ok, well then you are an exceptional human being.
Most of us feel an affinity to the soil from which we raised.
Most of love our families and our people, regardless of who they are, simple because they are OUR people.
You are different.
I don’t understand it, but each to his own..
20 Oct 2011, 13:51 pm
@ufo(ufo)-535: Thanks Ufo.
Anyways chaps. I gotta go. Have a wonderful day!
20 Oct 2011, 13:52 pm
If indeed by some miracle, the French do win…How Happy will the Tongans be…they will have bragging rights, of beating the “world champions”, what a K@K one. France do not deserve this, not at the very least. How can you get slaughtered by the AB’s and loose to Tonga in the pool stages and still make the final. something wrong with the system i tell u. Ireland, even Wales and the Boks too were far better sides than the french. Just my opinion they need to change the pool and knockout system.
20 Oct 2011, 13:52 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-528: Poor thing…. no sense of belonging. Ouch!
20 Oct 2011, 13:52 pm
@Helen(Helen)-539: I love the soil, the weather, the people, the sea, the mountains, everything BUT THE BOKS.
Do you get it. Boks are not an identity for me, just a team I don’t like.
20 Oct 2011, 13:52 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-528: Just out of interest, why do you support the AB’s….and why don’t you support the Boks?
20 Oct 2011, 13:53 pm
think we should send rossoneri to loftus with het NZ jersey ….
20 Oct 2011, 13:53 pm
@Connag(1112Connag)-542: I know where I belong, I just chose to see the boks as a team, not a part of my identity.
20 Oct 2011, 13:54 pm
@cane(cane)-515: Cant happen. They couldn’t score more in the pool game. They nearly didn’t against Japan and definitely didn’t against Tonga.
They are the biggest underdogs in the history of the World Cup. 8/1.
20 Oct 2011, 13:54 pm
@rossoneri(rossoneri)-532:
no rosso… that may be what you’re understanding… but that’s not what i wrote…
i simply said I (me, not anyone else and not people of colour and not saying what anyone else should or shouldn’t do) I support south africa (not ‘A’ country) and have and do and will support who ever represents my country in sport…
if you think that is.. or i am… insane… well… i can live with that….
20 Oct 2011, 13:54 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-538:
wow, two games, thats nice of you to think that other teams were better than you twice.
What about the tri nation games? Were you cheated out of every single game there?
20 Oct 2011, 13:54 pm
@carol(carol)-516:
Carol,
Your Hemisphere can win this thing.
No doubt.
It is yet to be written.
80 minutes………………………………anyones game.
Both Teams start with Zero points.
