Sharks reel in Boks
20 Oct 2011
John Plumtree has named seven World Cup Springboks in the Sharks’ semi-final starting XV to face the Cheetahs on Saturday.
In their 53-9 thrashing of the Lions in Durban last weekend, fullback Pat Lambie and wing Odwa Ndungane were the only returning Boks who started the game. For the semi-final clash against the Cheetahs, wing JP Pietersen, flanker Willem Alberts and the front row of Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis and Beast Mtawariria also find themselves in the run-on side.
Lock Jean Deysel is struggling with injury and will face a late fitness test on Friday. He’s been bracketed with Anton Bresler in the second row.
‘Everyone has to bring energy – this is a big game, a huge game,’ said Plumtree. ‘It was great to have the Boks back last week, but after having to integrate them, this week we’re a team. Everyone has a big responsibility, not just them.’
Sharks – 15 Pat Lambie, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Stefan Terblanche, 12 Marius Joubert, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Frederic Michalak, 9 Conrad Hoffmann, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Keegan Daniel (c), 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Jean Deysel/Anton Bresler, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Craig Burden, 17 Eugene van Staden, 18 Marcell Coetzee, 19 Jacques Botes, 20 Ross Cronje, 21 Adi Jacobs, 22 Lwazi Mvovo.

Pity about some of the injuries the sharks have in the midfield , Adi and Bosman just started looking good and both getting injured

“Pity about some of the injuries the sharks have in the midfield , Adi and Bosman just started looking good”…huh?
isn’t that like a contradiction in terms or a paradox or something like that?

Jacobs is ten times better than Terreblanche at 13…

A great looking side, if we had real centres this would be the strongest side in the currie cup, no question. I still think the Sharkies are going to take the Currie cup this year. Too much firepower there for the cheetahs and WP

The Lions should fancy their chances if they can sub Maku after 20 minutes

Sharks better buy some class locks quick-smart if they want to be competitive next S15… although with Plum-for-brains at the helm not even that will save them from missing the play-offs again…
One more season before the ‘masses’ wake-up to his averageness…

The Sharks are really struggling at lock lately. I hope there’s some reinforcements in the cupboard for next season!

Hmm, guess the Sharks can’t lose with Bissy back.
Wonder what will be said if they do lose?
Have your say
