Fourie set for Japanese stint

Fourie set for Japanese stint

Jaque Fourie has agreed a short-term deal with Japanese club the Panasonic Wild Knights.

There have been reports linking the Springbok and Stormers centre to a move to Japan over the last fortnight. After discussions between the player and the WP union, it has been decided that Fourie will be released to play for the Wild Knights for the duration of their domestic season.

The 28-year-old will return in time for the Stormers’ Super Rugby campaign, that kicks off on 24 February. However, with the Japanese domestic season only ending on 5 February, it means Fourie will head straight into Super Rugby preparations with no break after a busy 2011, which included an extended Super Rugby season, Tri-Nations and World Cup tournaments.

Fourie is the second Stormers player to be sent out on loan to a Japanese club. Flyhalf Peter Grant is currently playing in his second campaign for the Kobe Kobelco Steelers, and will also rush back into Super Rugby next year. Springbok and Bulls scrumhalf Fourie du Preez and lock Danie Rossouw have both signed two-year deals with Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath.

This site has it on good authority that there is an opportunity for Fourie to make a permanent transfer to Japan after Super Rugby. Fourie will have the opportunity to experience Japan and their domestic rugby from October to February, and could be open to a longer deal.

Cant see Sharks winning it with Joubert, Stef and Odwa at 12,13,14.
Also, Sharks been too inconsistent throughout the CC. Lions have had the benefit of continuity throughout and it showed on Sat and will show vs the Sharks.

Thats not to say the Sharks will battle, I just think the Lions have been more consistent in their selections and approach to the game.

    Will be a hummydinger though.

    look.

    let’s cut to the chase.

it was in all probability an exceptional world cup.

probably amongst the most exceptional ever.

    if not of all time.

    certainly in the top 7.

What makes you think he can play centre ? he does not understand running/defensive lines, can’t tackle(main ingredient for a centre) can’t step off both feet , no boet he will make a dismal centre, centre is a massively technical position and one that requires a huge appetite to tackle !!

Its by far the biggest frustration i have with the Sharks setup at the moment.
Big ball carrying forwards can only take you so far. If a team matches us there, there is no plan B.
Stef and Joubert are not going to create anything at the back and Odwa battles to run round flankers at the moment. Means its left up to Lambie, JP and Mvovo, if he plays, to do anything.

@ufo(ufo)-113: i don’t know or understand why some teams were allowed to impose/exhibit cultural practices on a rugby field when in a fair contest – imo – everyone should get their national anthem sung properly and then get on with the match. i don’t get why others are allowed to bring their ethnic heritage into it.

it’s there though and i quite like it and for me the french or any other team should be allowed to respond/accept the challenge in a manner they deem fit as long as it is not seen as over the top – keep the 10 or 15m distance.

Where I lead you will always follow afterwards, unfortunately years later.

At the start of the 2009 S14 season and the subsequent CC season I called Rassie(and all under him plus all the Stormer admin.) a coward for not being able to withstand the dictates of the Stellies moguls time after time after time. Their mere wish becomes Rassie’s command.
Your beloved Stormers has now been converted into Burgerville United.

Even now you do not see the connection between the Stormers, the buffoon ‘Boks and the settlement Saracens(if they still need and will feed(a reward) you when you are 64).

The next predictable progression in the logical equation of this sorry saga is clearly Skunk Burger for ‘Bok captain and that is soon. And you will just mildly continue to moan and groan but ultimately continue to support all their efforts.

@ufo(ufo)-82: How does that work. Now he is there in Japan while WP prepare for the S15. He comes in and all of a sudden JDJ who is training the whole Dec/Jan with the boys needs to stand back because he wanted some extra dough. It’s stuff like this that discourage young players. Same goes for Peter Grant. Let him stay in Japan a fark him and invest in the future but old Province is doing it the other way around. JF is a Judas… JHB people know this already. Too much rugby? Only when their form drops.

Can you say you are seven for seven (and in heaven) in 2011 RWC KOs?

You got the Final wrong, one semi-final wrong, some quarter finals wrong yet you dare to call this code of sport “Heaven’s Game”?

I recon we design a culturally diverse and inclusive ritual that incorporates all that is culturally rich and diverse about SA.

We start off with a Zulu Stick fighting dance, then move onto a more traditional “Lang Arm”, perhaps a “topless “virgin” parade and end off by pilfering the gold and silverwear in the front 2 rows, in honour of our great leaders….

Stone throwing optional. Toyi Toyi compulsory,

Look I’m no Province fan but this bs got to stop. Same with the Sharks with the Ross Cronje boy. Get a froggie from overseas rather than let this kid develop into something. Even Baas Staaldraad sang his praises but no let’s get JLP rather and a frog. Laughable….. like Spinnekop said this morning in another thread. That Hoskins is a softie because he allows this ****.

    Rassie, Allister: We’re not available

    Mon, 24 Oct 2011 16:19

No thanks: We don’t want Divvy’s job. (c) Gallo

The Western Province duo of Rassie Erasmus and Allister Coetzee have declared themselves unavailable for the Springbok coaching job and have no interest in the position at this time.

Erasmus and Coetzee were widely regarded as the frontrunners to take over from Peter de Villiers and become a new coaching team at the helm of the South African side.

Erasmus has been with the team as the technical advisor during the World Cup, but has stated that he only intended to stay with the side for the duration of the tournament and will continue to work as Western Province’s Director of Rugby.

Coetzee – who had a four-year stint with the Boks as one of Jake White’s assistant coaches – has indicated that he has another year to run on his contract with Western Province, which he intends to honour. Therefore, he has made it known that he is unavailable for the job.
