Reason to smile

Schalk Burger, the 2011 SA Player of the Year, should be the cornerstone of the Springbok side in 2012 and beyond.
Burger, who first played for the Boks in a 2003 World Cup match against Georgia, enjoyed an outstanding tournament in New Zealand, exhibiting the same abrasive energy that marked him as a 20-year-old debutant. He also made use of the experience he’s accumulated over 60-plus Tests, as well as some recently acquired skills, to leave a lasting impression.
The next Bok coach will face the challenge of building a new team and a new leadership group. Burger is certain to be one of the pillars, if not a strong candidate for the captaincy itself. Some tough decisions will need to be made by the coach, and the ageing veterans may need to make way for the promising youngsters, but a clever man-manager will realise that Burger is the kind of player he can build his new team around.
Also in the new issue of SA Rugby magazine, on sale this week:
– We analyse the Springboks’ World Cup campaign and rate all the players
– Why the Springboks must adapt their game plan in order to achieve consistent success
– Richie McCaw has a phenomenal playing record, but McCaw the player is even more impressive
– All Blacks coach Graham Henry has found peace at last
– We review all 48 matches of the 2011 World Cup
– The minnows made progress at the recent World Cup despite an unfair playing field
– Jon Cardinelli chronicles some of the World Cup adventures enjoyed by the SA Rugby magazine team during a seven-week sojourn to New Zealand’s rugby-mad North Island
– The SA U18 Sevens’ success at the Commonwealth Youth Games bodes well for the 2016 Olympic Games

@The Gloater – formerly cane(cane)-304: hehehe I have a better endow.
Little Hodiaki.
The teacher said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American history. Who said ‘Give me Liberty ,or give me Death’?”
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Hodiaki a bright foreign exchange student from Japan, who had his hand up: ‘Patrick Henry, 1775?, he said.
‘Very good!’
Who said, ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?’
Again, no response except from Little Hodiaki, ‘Abraham Lincoln, 1863?.
‘Excellent!’,said the teacher continuing, ‘let’s try one a bit more difficult…’
Who said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?’
Once again, Hodiaki’s was the only hand in the air and he said: ‘John F. Kennedy, 1961?.
The teacher snapped at the class, ‘Class, you should be ashamed of yourselves, Little Hodiaki isn’t from this country and he knows more about our history than you do.’
She heard a loud whisper: ‘F . . k the ****,’
‘Who said that? I want to know right now!’ she angrily demanded.
Little Hodiaki put his hand up, ‘General MacArthur, 1945.’
Now furious, another student yelled, ‘Oh yeah? Suck this!’
Little Hodiaki jumped out of his chair waving his hand and shouted to the teacher, ‘Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!’
Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, ‘You little ****. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you.’
Little Hodiaki frantically yelled at the top of his voice, “Michael Jackson to the child witness testifying against him, 2004.’
The teacher fainted.
As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, ‘Oh ****,We’re screwed!’
Little Hodiaki said quietly, ‘The Guppies, two weekends ago.’

@Helen(Helen)-243:
seems like some half arse morons not quite knowing which side of the gender divide they belong wanna pro-activate their little half arse false sense of supremacy grandeur status
you and your little runtcunt Gunthergwat are simply no match for the real hardcore blogging hierarchic stratosphere here
rossoneri is quite correct in her assumptions and her evaluations.. there are those who pretend to be something superior or something resembling intelligent contribution or something of any valuable substance, and there are those who simply are a loud infatuation of colorful insignificant smoke
Unfortunately you and your little poefie boy Gunthergwat belong in the fake category where you wanna believe you are all so emphatically intelligence enlightened and intellectually adorned , when back at the ranch in the real light of day.. you are neither or NOT!!
7 Nov 2011, 14:48 pm
@gr8 white(gr8 white)-336: Correct.. pretty much spot on !
7 Nov 2011, 14:49 pm
Reason to Smile?
Keith and Brycie

Paddy Obrien
and some fella named
William Webb Ellis

7 Nov 2011, 14:51 pm
@gr8 white(gr8 white)-336: Or AC as coach and Schalk as captain = exactly same thing.. another 4 years of blunt neanderthal headlong bludgeoning to nowhere fast !!
7 Nov 2011, 14:53 pm
@poppa69(poppa69)-362: They truly did set it up all nicely for you to re claim the preciousss you lost so long ago back in the age old mists of time …. Poor darling dears needed all the IRB help you could possibly get.. and Paddy the crooked caddy and Co. duly obliged… Not so?
7 Nov 2011, 14:54 pm
@charo(charo)-358: pity missed you last month but no worries whenever you down this way again..
7 Nov 2011, 14:56 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-364: not so… apparently defense wins world cups, and I thought the ABs defense was outstanding throughout..
conspiracy is for weak minded fools…
4 more years skop, enjoy them lemons..
7 Nov 2011, 15:02 pm
4 MORE YEARS!!!!!!
7 Nov 2011, 15:05 pm
@ashampoopaloo -363 so true – rather not think of that – makes me want to beat my self senseless with a heavy blunt instrument…can’t believe someone actually wrote this dravel…however if either these coaches do come to light this could be our future rugby picture! I’ve been comming to this site for over 4 years and the articles remain at a “very high calibre”!
7 Nov 2011, 15:06 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-360:
Gunth is not, I repeat NOT a poefie boy.
He strings along a bevvy of beauties who cater for his every need.
Right now, he’s being fed seedless woollies grapes by one of them, while another is massaging his pelvis and yet another whispers dirty words in his ear. One is on the phone to Guiness World Record comitee about Gunth’s bicep circumference.
7 Nov 2011, 15:07 pm
Apparently one cheating ref and loads of luck against the worst French team in a decade, wins world cups, not defence!
7 Nov 2011, 15:10 pm
apparently, if you cant beat Australia with 70% possession you dont deserve to win the WC..
coming 8th is about right for SA rugby
because its k@K!!
Justice4PDV – he deserves another crack,,
7 Nov 2011, 15:10 pm
The only people who still say “shweeeeeet.” in this day and age are the lube smugglers in Pollsmoor.
Must be internet hour there now.
7 Nov 2011, 15:11 pm

7 Nov 2011, 15:12 pm
2 cups out of 7 attempts!!!!!

fARK……. SORRY CAPS, isn’t that JuJu’s woodwork grade?
7 Nov 2011, 15:14 pm
How many countries have won the RWC playing on home ground? 1
How many have won it away from home? 3
Now, that tells a story that some on here won’t want to hear in a hurry.
7 Nov 2011, 15:14 pm
8th is about right..
beating Samoa by 5 or so points proves that that early exit underlined their finish..
still
at least the players were well rested beforehand..
and they got two weeks at home with their wives to watch the finals live..
7 Nov 2011, 15:15 pm
@poppa69(poppa69)-371:fair comment – but PDV or AC is the only way the AB’s will get the better of us!
7 Nov 2011, 15:15 pm
every time Schalk interviewed after game (re: s15 2011) I was always pleasantly surprised by his eloquence and lack of braggadacio.
A great future Bok cappie, IMO.
7 Nov 2011, 15:16 pm

7 Nov 2011, 15:18 pm
@Gtown(Gtown)-378: very eloquent for a sledge hammer!
7 Nov 2011, 15:18 pm
NZ won by one point against a team that lost to Tonga 2 weeks earlier.
Hmmmm…….. Great hollow victory that is!
Bwhahahahahahaha……………
7 Nov 2011, 15:20 pm
@gr8 white(gr8 white)-381:
Presies.
7 Nov 2011, 15:21 pm

7 Nov 2011, 15:22 pm
Income gaps exist between whites and blacks. Fact.
Income gaps exist between males and females. Fact
Income gaps exist between kiwis and Aussies. Fact
Only one of those is growing.
Not good news if you are a black woman in New Zealand…..
7 Nov 2011, 15:23 pm
@willievz(willievz)-332: Juan Smith would make a better 8 than Schalk Burger, he was a better 8 than Spies at 22 years old.
7 Nov 2011, 15:24 pm
@ufo(ufo)-349: Great post, and like with most things. Talking about it helps.
7 Nov 2011, 15:26 pm
who is going to teach the SA backline?
now that the rest of the world have a counter for the “intercept play”
it leaves them with very few options.
7 Nov 2011, 15:29 pm
How many teams can claim these kind of stats?
1 – most players wearing make- up
2 – most bar brawls involving hand bags
3 – most alcoholics
7 Nov 2011, 15:32 pm
SA’s backline dealt with the Jonah …..ooooohhhh…. i’m so scared…. Lomu effect in ’95.
Given a chance, they would’ve done the same thing to old thunder thighs with the lipstick
7 Nov 2011, 15:34 pm
He’s gone. I win…….. again
7 Nov 2011, 15:36 pm
apparently the real reasons for SA’s failure to get past the 1/4 final has emerged..
the team was struck down with a severe case of coulrophobia right before kick off..
7 Nov 2011, 15:36 pm
@Helen(Helen)-389: hey Helen…that could be the Poms as well!
7 Nov 2011, 15:38 pm
@poppa69(poppa69)-392: and that **** is contagious..
just look at the blitz boks, it seems SA rugby have tried to contain the outbreak by making those infected wear nappies..
though that could be because of the “gameplan”,,
one never can tell..
7 Nov 2011, 15:38 pm
@Helen(Helen)-389: Actually Jimmy Cowan holds the record in at least two of the three catogories all on his own!
7 Nov 2011, 15:39 pm
@poppa69(poppa69)-394: Gameplan…gameplan!
7 Nov 2011, 15:39 pm
you can see in that cover pic that schalla is shaping to do his back-to-the-defender manouvre that gains his team NO metres at contact points..
7 Nov 2011, 15:43 pm
@poppa69(poppa69)-388:Who will teach our backline, your very own Poppa. Carlos Spencer.
Tell you what if we get Mitchell as head coach with Carlos as our backline coach we will seriously kick butt for many, many years to come. Even by next year we will be number one. I honestly think we will be if we had them coming on board as our coaches.
Our young talent we have coming through are seriously top class. Just need those two top class coaches and we we beat any team.
How would you feel if we won 4Nations for the next 4 years and the next world cup with your very own coaching us? It could happen.
7 Nov 2011, 15:44 pm
@Puma(Puma)-398: sorry typo there. we we actually meant. we will
7 Nov 2011, 15:46 pm
@Puma(Puma)-398:
That would be a bold and courageous selection.
Really don’t think Saru has the balls for it, but based on what’s before us, that should be the team to take SA for the next 4 years.
Imagine throwing Heyneke or Vic into that mix as forwards coach??!!!
