At the top level its a matter of millimetres and by not selecting your best players to play as long as possible, you give the team a competitive disadvantage, and yes one player can make a difference, a massive difference even. And for that there are two ppl to blame, PdV for not selecting Bismack and Smit for not standing aside for the team as he did two years ago.

I enjoyed yesterday immensely……got there 2 overs before lunch……so missed first 2 wickets…..but had a great afternoon cricket….

There were MANY ifs and buts and coulda’s and shoulda’s about that game, legions of them.., like a blind as bat cowardly creep IRB stooge ref for one, or a useless strategy of having the blunt instrument non effective battering ram Burger do ALL the solo runs and ball carries to never never land, or the missed drop by Lambie, the forward pass by JDV, the missed collect by FdP over the line from a Bismark charge down, the inability of Burger to carry the ball over under the posts having FAILED again to carry it through the Aussie defensive line and have it ripped off him on the ground, the non effect of Brussow who was injury ridden before he started and who failed to protect same numbskull Burger from getting manhandled in front of his own post gifting Aussie the softest try against run of play they could possibly have dreamt of, thousands of shoulda, woulda and coulda reasons WHY Boks lost that game…, EXCEPT for the ONE SOLE shoulda woulda reason… And THAT sole reason was the ONE reason that ACTUALLY would have brought the bacon home…

Had Boks NOT gambled and COMPROMISED by playing their WEAK starters first, SMIT, SPIES, FDP, and elected to play their STRONG vanguard from kick off BISMARK, ALBERTS, HOUGAARD, It would have been an absolute whitewash and Aussie would NEVER have been ANYWHERE in that game…

Compromised selection of Smit over Bismark and only secondly favoring Spies over Alberts and FdP over Hougaard. The gamble FAILED as it was BOUND to do..sentimentalist bullshit cowardly COMPROMISED Selection of Smit starting ahead of Bismark is what Fckd the Boks out the world cup…that and THAT ALONE,., and nothing ELSE but!!

-heading into the last 20 minutes with over 70% of possession and territory (unheard of) not one attempt to take the several drop-goal opportunities… just persisting with blunt attack from backs and forwards against the best defensive stats in a RWC 1/4 final
-within the above they failed to even try and rolling maul from 5 out
-winning 30% of Australian LO ball, they resisted reverting back to a more tactical kicking game.

One would have thought that with Bismark, Alberts, Hougaard all coming onto the field with 30 minutes to go they’d be just the tonic for some impact… they simply were not, they missed tackles, failed to breach the advantage line and they made not one line-break… and the foolish swinging ball left-and-right continued until they lost!
