Soweto to host Bok Test

Saru has announced the venues for the Springboks’ 2012 home Tests.

Each major rugby stadium will get the opportunity to host a Test next year, except Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein.

The Boks will play their first three Tests of 2012 against England at Kings Park (Durban), Ellis Park (Johannesburg) and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (PE) respectively.

In the newly-launched Rugby Championship, Soweto will host its second Test when the All Blacks visit South Africa. The Boks will also play Argentina at Newlands (Cape Town) and the Wallabies at Loftus (Pretoria).

WPRFU president Toby Titus strongly criticised his union’s lack of Tests. They last hosted the Springboks in 2010, and Titus questioned some allocations. ‘Port Elizabeth got the All Black Test this year, and the Sevens tournament, and now an England Test. It is an unfair distribution,’ Titus told the Cape Times. ‘Cape Town didn’t have a Test this year, and we accepted that. What is the reason that Cape Town didn’t qualify for an Australian or England Test, or the All Blacks?’

June Incoming Tours:
9 June: Springboks vs England – Kings Park, Durban
6 June: Springboks vs England – Ellis Park, Johannesburg
23 June: Springboks vs England – Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth

The Rugby Championship:
18 August: Springboks vs Argentina – Newlands, Cape Town
29 September: Springboks vs Australia – Loftus, Pretoria
6 October: Springboks vs New Zealand – Soccer City, Soweto

    Aaaaaaaaaaah that feels better.

They were my officialy sanctioned, IRB RWC 2011 undies.
The only colour available was Black of course.

If I had put my mind to it, I could have gotten another couple of weeks out of them.

But hey …………………………………………………….there comes a time when you just have to let go. Whatever the emotional attachment.

@Puma(Puma)-48: this titus oke is full of sshit!

SARU already hinted where the Springboks will be playing their rugby in the new year in the past, but Titus was under the impression that the situation would be taken under review.

“I thought that they would definitely review it. I mean PE – I don’t blame PE, because they don’t award the Tests to themselves – but I just want to have the reasoning behind the decisions,” Titus said in Friday’s Cape Times.

wp, where did you okes get this guy :D

@stew(stew)-50: Ellis Park is our house of pain. BUT I think Soccer City will become that. I know we lost to ABs last year there but only just. Doubt your boys will beat us there this year Stew.

I can’t wait. Boks never made the semi so will make up for it at the magnificent Soccer City when we beat your boys infront of 95 000 Bok Supporters.. Gonna be awesome. Will be the first beating of the World Champs…lol.

I could never wear anything green Popps.
    Or yellow.

Green is the colour of envy.
And the less said about yellow the better.

@Transformation(Transformation)-52: Well he caused Sarries to cancel the game in Cape Town. So WP can get Arg…..hehe.

I am really pleased that PE is getting another test Transie. A bit test again against England will be great. The game the Boks played ABs there this year was really well supported and one of the best atmospheres I have seen in a long time at a stadium. Really nice stadium that too.

    Hope you going buddy.

@cane(cane)-57: Caner there are NO AB fans in Joburg only Bok fans. This is Joburg we talking about Caner, the CapeABs will never dare to go a Bok/AB game in Joburg. Joburgers won’t take kind to that I think. So it will be 95 000 Bok supporters going.

Or unless true NZ come over to the game, which I doubt they will.

@Puma(Puma)-58: After the atmosphere at the AB game there they’d be mad not to include it as often as possible

@Puma(Puma)-60: No no – there are usually about 10 of us in the stands ! Was great when Richie scored last time at Soweto – the shock on the Bok supporters faces was well worth the ticket cost ! Will definately go again !!

@Sasuke(Sasuke)-36: heres hoping too. the beautiful sport (as well as others) needs to be embraced more in NZ

still AB’s in Soweto, not the greatest decision by SARU. its beginning to become AB’s house and each time AB’s win they also win the crowd. i’ve enjoyed all the tests at Soweto, well of course because they won, but the atmosphere in the stands with the black jerseys is amazing to see especially in heart of southAfrica, the toughest rugby country to tour and win@.

@man1a(man1a)-66: the all blacks have only played once at soccer city, how can you or anyone suggest that the stadium now is an all black hunting ground?

@Transformation(Transformation)-67: Soweto has been been found wanting – we came , we saw , we conquered !!!!

  • 69.mpundulu: Reply to this comment

When the boks hosted the AB’s in Soweto, it was downright scary, you had angry bok supporters everywhere, they were crazed! Fortunately, the AB’s won in emphatic style, Soweto is the AB’s holiday house, we own it.

  • 70.Bouts: Reply to this comment

Hmmm… I guess SARU doesn’t want the boks to win next year, considering Bloem boasting the best bok record.

That’s fine… the boks will probably sink to second tier level next season.

  • 71.Bouts: Reply to this comment

But to be fair, I have to agree that the England test should have gone to Cape Town and Argentina to PE next year.
