PdV makes Bok coach shortlist

Saru confirmed that the Springbok head coach appointment will be announced early next year.

The union will approach a shortlist of preferred candidates in the process to appoint a Bok coach. The shortlist will be prepared by the Executive Council (Exco) against identified criteria to fulfill the demanding requirements of the role.

Saru CEO Jurie Roux confirmed that Peter de Villiers would be on the shortlist as the incumbent Bok coach, but no other candidates will be revealed ahead of the final appointment. Jurie added that the Exco hoped to confirm a head coach early next year.

‘This is the most important decision we have to make as Saru and appointing the best man for the job is critical,’ said Roux. ‘The skills and qualities required by a Springbok coach are confined to only a small number of potential candidates.

‘Once a shortlist of those available candidates has been identified, the Exco has the freedom to call on outside expertise for final selection. The appointment will then go for ratification by the General Council.’

@Transformation(Transformation)-455: WP scrummies don’t go to the gym. You don’t have to be Tim Noakes to see that.

@Treehugger(Treehugger)-440: Sharm el-Sheikh – been there a few times. Gazillions of tourists, great hotels and diving is good (not great) from there. Worth it!

@Transformation(Transformation)-455: yes, met Bolla before. Actually over the years a great many of the WP guys have come in to train, I used to see Pieter Louw all the time. Breyton, Werner Greef, many of the guys that live up North would go there to train (Tygervalley Virgin). So it’s no surprise to see them from time to time…..
