@Dawn(Dawn)-348:
That’s Capo.
His degree of illiteracy is hard to disguise.
@>^..^< katman(katman)-339:
I was expecting to learn about David Bowie.
the Golden Years lecture seems shorter than Paris Hilton’s hemline.
No?

@Gunther(gunther)-351: I kept it tight because the back two rows were nodding off.
Would you like the full version?
30 Nov 2011, 16:25 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-345: You sure? More than Dresden… Or Hamburg… ?
We all know the Land of Hope and Glory revisionist view of WW2 but somewhere in between is the real truth…
Also many Stukas on the Eastern Front chap.

@>^..^< katman(katman)-352: And if you get the answers right, what do you get? One cup of curry? A tin of Pamper? Two free GLRU shares? (Worth nothing, in fact you’d probably owe them money…) or a BALions degree?
30 Nov 2011, 16:39 pm
@grant10(grant10)-354:

@grant10(grant10)-355:
Weird to see Boucher and Steyn in blue.
This Cobra team is on paper probably the strongest SA provincial/regional team since readmission to international cricket.

@au revoir mon tout noirs, au revoir…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-357: clearly you take pleasure in seeing grant blow his gasket
30 Nov 2011, 16:45 pm
By the way, congrats Mark Keohane and Co. Pleased you “cleaned up” at the awards. You normally leave the dirt for others to absorb…
30 Nov 2011, 16:48 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-358: no don’t think so, did you see the Warriors last year or a year back?

@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-353: It’s historical fact for which Malta was awarded the George Cross.
Why not google before questioning?
30 Nov 2011, 17:00 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-361:
They were good indeed.
If one compares:
Boucher, Kallis and Peterson cancel each other out.
Smith, Dale Steyn, Duminy, Ontong, Philander, Langeveldt, etc might just be a tiny bit better than the names you mentioned imo. I do not think Herschel is even playing today.
The combination of Kallis and Steyn in one team at this level is quite frightening.
Dolphins might still beat them though- anything is possible in this game.
30 Nov 2011, 17:01 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-367:
silly grant does’nt know his world class open-siders.
30 Nov 2011, 17:09 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-370: not to shabby
30 Nov 2011, 17:13 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-369: Yes, they did get awarded a George Cross and Malta was bombed… I don’t need to google that – I know it already. But so were other countries and cities bombed even more heavily than Malta… I suggest that you may need to Google that – a naive acceptance of the “victor’s” version of history may blind someone to the real facts…. Just suggesting…
30 Nov 2011, 17:15 pm
@Dawn(Dawn)-365: Captain of the Fat Boys Club.
30 Nov 2011, 17:19 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-370:
Until that “potent” side come up against the South Australian Redbacks, or whatever they are called, with the might of Peter Siddle, Nathon Lyons, Cameron white, Grandad Warne and the rest of their Youth Academy.
They will choke and lose…
30 Nov 2011, 17:24 pm
@grant10(grant10)-355: Where’s Herschelle Gibbs when you want to lay on a bit of a fix and help the Dolphins out a little bit…
30 Nov 2011, 17:26 pm
@Bod(bod)-375:
Yeah, but that is Australia- I won’t underestimate them in any sport unless maybe jukskei or toutrek (not so sure about toutrek though).
I mean who would have thought that “they” can even win the Tour de France?
30 Nov 2011, 17:29 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-376:
He is injured- apparently hurt his hand when collecting money at the local “tattersalls”.
30 Nov 2011, 17:30 pm
Interesting thread this…. from bashing Poppas wife to a Nazi lecture to Maltan history to a jodering boring lecture in Transvaal Rugby by some desperate dan
And Guntertjie hasnt missed a beat of it…

@grant10(grant10)-309: ‘my sister is a yank…. we tend to fight a bit’
She is a Smit fan?
Regarding the US, the biggest European ancestral group present there is German. Babe Ruth, Sandra Bullock, Eisenhower etc. all of German extraction.
30 Nov 2011, 17:33 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-378: Okay, so Dolphins got no chance then… Unless there a couple of other chaps keen on brown paper bags…
30 Nov 2011, 17:33 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-377:
“They” claim him to be theirs, but he left Aussie 20 years ago to live in Italy. He speaks more Italian than English now and I think if he was a lesser gentleman he would have told them to vlieg in their moer long time ago.
30 Nov 2011, 17:37 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-314: not sure about that, Churchill had planned anthrax bombing with the intention of wiping out the German population, dude was going all out if it came to it
30 Nov 2011, 17:38 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-323: Huzzit Doll !!!
sorry, only just came back onto keo now, been chatting for ages on fb, as for for your poster/picture
twit.
30 Nov 2011, 17:46 pm
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-380: I could handle a bit of Bullock…
30 Nov 2011, 17:58 pm
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-383: No you don’t really understand do you… If the Germans weren’t fighting on the Eastern Front not many Allied bombers would have even got close to France, never mind Germany… No Operation Barbarossa, no Western front…
Churchill did enough madness one his lonesome… Ordered the bombing of Dresden, with no military targets, just to try and impress Stalin in negotiations in 1945…. 700 000 phosphorus bombs dropped on a city of 1.2 mill people… There is no agreement on how many actually died because people actually melted from the flames – but the conservative estimate was 250 000 people dying in 14hrs of bombing – more than Nagasaki and Hiroshima combined.
This War Crime inspired Slaughterhouse 5 by Vonnegut who as POW at the time was part of the clean up after the fact…
30 Nov 2011, 18:01 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-386: A great irony of Dresden is that in the Nuremburg trials, photos of melted civilian victims of the Allied carpet bombing were used as evidence of Nazi atrocities against concentration camp inmates…. Oops.
30 Nov 2011, 18:08 pm
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-380: Yup, Germans everywhere… Currently the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha are the Rulers of the UK too…along with some old Greek codger…
30 Nov 2011, 18:09 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-373: HG, Malta got bombed more heavily per *square km* than any other place. That is an indisputable fact. Hence why I mention googling because that would have confirmed it for you instead of questioning what is unquestionable.
6700 tons of bombs were dropped on the place in just a couple of weeks, never mind the rest of the extremely intensive bombing campaign.
30 Nov 2011, 18:15 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-389: Chap, in one German city alone, 700 000 bombs were dropped in less than 24hours… 1 bomb for every 2 inhabitants…
I don’t question that Malta was bombed heavily, however I do question that it was the heaviest bombed… The fact that it was awarded a George Cross does not blind me to this.
30 Nov 2011, 18:17 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-390: Please read the full sentences, HG. Most heavily bombed *per square mile*.
30 Nov 2011, 18:22 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-390: You’re talking about Dresden. That number of bombs equated to 3300 tons. My contrast, 6728 tons was dropped on Malta alone in April 1942.
30 Nov 2011, 18:23 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-390: So again, please please research when questioning what is an indisputable historical fact.
30 Nov 2011, 18:30 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-391: Yes, even most heavily bombed “per square mile”… I still doubt Malta was most heavily bombed by whatever metric you want to add afterwards… whether by tonnes of metal, by density or by number of bombs, simply put, there are other places without a George Cross and not part of British territory that were more heavily bombed per whatever you want…
Another place that was fubar’ed was Koblenz… 23000 dwellings… 22000 destroyed. Bombs are still regularly found there today.
Nope… You can kid yourself as much as you want, you can’t kid me with any propaganda.
30 Nov 2011, 18:39 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-392: You must be reading a Mickey Mouse history book…
In one raid on Dresden alone, 1,478 tons of high explosive and 1,182 tons of incendiary bombs were dropped… There were 7 further raids…
Fark me, I hope you aren’t a Historian or researcher… Mickey wouldn’t be proud.
30 Nov 2011, 18:42 pm
War. What is it good for.
Absolutely nothing.
30 Nov 2011, 18:45 pm
Pops deserves everything he gets.
Slagging us off like a twit.
And I’m sick of that “japie” word.
30 Nov 2011, 18:45 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-394: HG, with all due respect, you can doubt however much you want but it doesn’t change historical fact.
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-395: 4 raids between the 13 and 15 Feb 1945. Total 3900 tons (not 3300 I wrote earlier).
BA in History, BA in Archaeology, BA (Honours) in Archaeology, MA in Archaeology, current Ph.D. candidate in Archaeology, written an unpublished book on WW2, etc etc. Degrees don’t matter in this. What matters is that you are arguing against historical fact, without doing your comparative research. I’m obviously not getting through to you so I’ll drop this from my side and go back to teasing you about your Sharkies’ Turnstil centers
30 Nov 2011, 18:47 pm
Well done to Keo.co.za
Now Mr Keohane, please become the man you were before JW roped you in and made you his puppet.
Also, don’t allow yourself to be used by any of the contenders for the Bok coaching job so that you don’t have any expectations to be part of the management team as media spokesperson. That way you can stay objective in your criticism when he ***** up while you can also give credit when/where it’s due.
Oh yes, what about an article thanking the bloggers for the award because I can’t believe you received it for your rugby stories in 2011.
30 Nov 2011, 18:53 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-398: Obviously your pieces of paper aren’t helping you here…
So, what was the total tonnage dropped on Malta?
And please no Mickey Mouse history books, backed up by any number of Donald Duck Degrees…
