All Blacks to name Henry’s successor
14 Dec 2011
Steve Hansen is expected to be announced as the new All Blacks coach when the appointment is confirmed this Friday.
Graham Henry’s successor was only expected to be named next week, but the New Zealand Rugby Union has said that it wanted the new coach in place before Christmas.
Reports from Down Under suggest that Henry’s long-time assistant, Hansen, will get the job, although Clermont’s Vern Cotter has been mentioned as a strong contender.

@BULLET-93:
Yeah but bullet you are falling into the the good ole treap of basing everything on the RWC.
Jake only for the #1 ranked team but beating England, Tonga Fiji and Argentina. Getting double points for the rankings.
JW got SA in 5th place, not 6th. He got to 3rd place before the RWC and looked like he was never going to get any further up the ladder. In comes an Ozzie coach and there we have it, the rest is history.

our govt is like jake white.
mediocre.
sure, they have had some notable success and achieved some things that have given us reason to smile.
but they have made far too many mistakes to be deserving of unreserved respect.
such is life.

the next bok coach should be someone with a steely nerve, a champion, a winner, not too short, not too tall, no poetry, no soundbites, a glare across the windswept highveld, a steely stare into the pounding surf.
who can this hero be?
smal (in name only)?
maybe.
but whoever he is, we will surely f u k him up, that much i know.

what are you trying to do?
Surely you dont want me to go through you tube and pick out all your bad play and misconduct.
That video is a laugh, thats already put on here a few months ago and we picked holes in it big time.
Its a one eye view of jealous spectator. Really nothing to see.
15 Dec 2011, 10:45 am
@Hurricane-121:
i’m sorry hurricane, but you’re only trying to convince yourself on that.
15 Dec 2011, 10:48 am
@au revoir mon tout noirs, au revoir…-122:
As said, we have seen these videos posted on here before.
Nothing really new.
But calling us dirty filthy All Blacks is a bit harsh dont you think?
15 Dec 2011, 11:05 am
@Hurricane-123:
you’re right.
i am sorry and i do apologise.
i should not have said ‘dirty filthy’ and should just have said cheating all blacks instead.
one can criticise without resorting to offensive insults.

Cane – lets be fair, everyone judges their performance on silverware. Hence the RWC trophy being the measuring stick.
Yea JW had an Aussie helper – whose idea & decision wa sthat to bring in EJ? It was Jakes. Its called smart management.
Same as Woodward in 2003, he was the best manager for the Pomms, he had a massive team of helpers.
Truth is JW took the boks from 5/6 to 1st with a RWC. Anyway we want to spin it does not detract from the facts.
Lastly, and I say this many many times, its not JW’s fault that the AB’s & Aussies were not good enough to face them at the RWC 2007.
Just like its not Henry’s fault that the Boks were not good enough to face them in 2011.
15 Dec 2011, 11:55 am
@BULLET-125: hehehe spin it however you want it. henry entered the world cup ranked #1 and finished on top and is in DEMAND all over the world unlike white who was in limbo for 4 years. rate jake vs the rubbish that preceeded him but in international stakes, he is mediocre.
refer to ranger’s analogy: it’s like praising the ANC government in comparison with the Nats, sure they’re better but they’re nowhere in terms of being world class.

@au revoir mon tout noirs, au revoir…-124:

I can handle cheaters thank you.
15 Dec 2011, 14:19 pm
@BULLET-125:
For sure, silverware is what its all about but win most your games and that silverware just follows.
To much is put on the like of the RWC. We all know it is the pinnacle of rugby but in the same breathe it has taken something away from rugby as well.
Coaches even saying judge me on the RWC. Lucky we didnt in 2007 as we might have been in a different position now, who knows.
But its good to know there are people like yourself that backs your coaches. Seems to one of the hardest job on this planet to be a Bok coach.
15 Dec 2011, 14:51 pm
@Hurricane-127:
hehehe
then cheaters it is

All Black Richie McCaw has turned down a knighthood, Prime Minister John Key says.
He told Radio Sport that he had asked McCaw about receiving a New Year Honour.
“In the end, the conclusion that he drew was that he would love to take it but now wasn’t the right time.”
Key said he was deadly serious in making the offer, which is bestowed by the Queen.
“He made the call that he’s still in his playing career and it didn’t feel quite right for him, that day where he’s no longer on the pitch may be the right time for him,” Key said.
He says there was no formal offer made in the end.
“We didn’t formally get to offer it to him in the sense that we knew if we offered it he wouldn’t take it, but had he shown indication that he would’ve – then we certainly would’ve offered it to him, I certainly wanted him to take it.”
Key told Radio Sport that McCaw would be among the country’s knights one day.
“I have no doubt if we’re the government or whoever is the government at that point will go back and talk to him, but it won’t be happening on January 1, 2012.”
He says an awful lot of New Zealanders will respect McCaw for that decision.
