Munster maul Saints
21 Jan 2012
Munster thumped Northampton 51-36 to finish the European Cup pool stage as the top seeds.
Simon Zebo scored a hat-trick and helped the Irish giants to a bonus-point win against last year’s finalists. The result means that Munster have accumulated 25 points and regardless of what happens in Sunday’s games they will go into the quarter-finals at the top-placed side.
Meanwhile in other European Cup matches, Bath ended a disappointing campaign on a high when they beat Glasgow 23-18 at The Rec. Scarlets edged Castres 16-13, Leinster overpowered Montpellier 25-3 and the cool goal-kicking of Ruan Pienaar wasn’t enough to get Ulster over the line in the 19-15 defeat to Clermont. Leicester scored a bonus-point 33-6 win against the hapless Aironi

@Tacitus-46: The key to me is who HM brings as his specialist coaches, as they will have more practical, on field influence with HM just really consolidating it all at the top.
22 Jan 2012, 12:42 pm
Hey hey we’re the Munsters,
people say we Munster around
were’re to busy singing ………………………….

22 Jan 2012, 12:43 pm
@Tacitus-43: The production of a new generation of WP youngsters is well advanced.
22 Jan 2012, 12:44 pm
@stormersboy-51: Agreed.
@ Tacitus. It took a Kaapie (Meyer) to come to the rescue of the Bulls and now a Kaapie may become the Bok coach
Oh the irony of a Bulls supporter supporting a Kaapie.
22 Jan 2012, 12:44 pm
@stormersboy-51:
I think that may be part of a negotiation with SARU. I can’t see them giving him carte blanche.
22 Jan 2012, 12:46 pm
As long as Timotei isn’t seen near a Bok jersey again.
22 Jan 2012, 12:47 pm
@cane-52:
Be carefull, the Leprechauns will get you. Keo doesn’t forget.
22 Jan 2012, 12:47 pm
@David-55: And therein lies the stuff-up.
22 Jan 2012, 12:50 pm
One good thing about Meyer is he knows how to rotate players. A problem we have had to overplaying exhausted players on the end of year tours. Those same players then rush into the S12 two months later and we moan about them losing form etc.
22 Jan 2012, 12:51 pm
Meyer has a pemamemt, high paying job at the most professional union in the country where he pretty much has carte blanche, is virtually worshipped and can be close to his family all the time.
If they want him to give that up for a 2 year appointment, with no job guarantees afterwards then they better offer him damn carte blanche or they can kiss the chances of getting him goodbye.

@Michael-59: Yes, I remember frothing at the mouth when Divvy was asked in an interview about that magical number of 1500 top class minutes played (Victor) and he admitted that Vic had played substantially more than that and then he picked him again the next weekend.
Freaked me out. that was just before that disastrous end of year tour.
22 Jan 2012, 12:52 pm
@Tacitus-60: Yes. He won’t accept anything less. He has seen what happens otherwise and has been round the block long enough to know better.
22 Jan 2012, 12:53 pm
@stormersboy-61: The days of the “best” playing each and every match for the Boks is long gone, at least while the current rugby structure exists in SA.
22 Jan 2012, 13:00 pm
@Michael-63:
The problem of overplaying isn’t so much a Bok one, as a franchise one.
22 Jan 2012, 13:03 pm
Well batted Biff.
22 Jan 2012, 13:05 pm
Stormersboy you have mail to put you out of your misery.

@Tacitus-60:
To be Coach of your Country is not about Job Guarantee’s.
It is something more.
far more.
It is not something that can be quantified is securtity or cash.
It is about ………………………………………………………………………..Well ……………….something else.
22 Jan 2012, 13:14 pm

22 Jan 2012, 13:16 pm
@cane-69: yes….a massive honour…..
I reckon, after much mulling, that HM is actually the very best choice….
22 Jan 2012, 13:19 pm
indiginization – what does that mean?
Like demographically representative?
Or non racially segregationist?
Or non broederbond boetie bevordering?
Or maybe it means there’s a new broederbond in town cracking the whip only they paid their dues at the back of the bus and now they occupying the drivers seat, – so which one is better or worse?
22 Jan 2012, 13:25 pm
@grant10-71:
This is a time of great change for The Springboks.
The important thing is to give the new guy a fair go.
The New Coach will NOT be inheriting a Team of World Champions. It may take a year or two to settle things down.
You pricks are notoriously short sighted.
22 Jan 2012, 13:26 pm
Caner getting maudlin as the level of the johnnie walker drops.
22 Jan 2012, 13:28 pm
A rare occasion of Biff getting out forward of square. Can’t remember when last I saw that.

Yes, we are helluva shortsighted and often cut off our nose needlessly.

22 Jan 2012, 13:42 pm
A Kiwi talking about cheating is like one of their sheep pleading not to be the wife for the night.
22 Jan 2012, 13:44 pm

skittle sticks on a Sunday afternoon could there be anything remotely more boring to watch?
Isn’t there some decent Australian Open tennis to whet the appetite instead, or at least some type sport that requires a little tenacity and dexterity and technique and athleticism and courage and skill?
22 Jan 2012, 13:49 pm
They’ll have to rename that part of the field to AB ‘s Corner.
22 Jan 2012, 13:51 pm
@ashampoopaloo-96: 313 for the Lankans to win, 11 runs an over since over 40. Admit it you too were chanting AB AB AB.
