Ranger faces assault charge
23 Jan 2012
Rene Ranger will stand trial for an incident that occurred three years ago this August.
The good news for the Blues is that the charges will not impact on their 2012 campaign at all, given the late date of the trial. According to Fairfax, Ranger is charged with two counts of injuring with intent which left a man unconscious outside the Mangawhai Tavern in August 2009.
Ranger had sought name suppression over the case, but the High Court ordered in 2010 that name suppression be lifted. The trial will now take place in August.

pretty sure this ‘assault’ is where rene was at his old rugby club quietly drinking when a group of unruly individuals came in. heard it was a local gang of prospectors.
the person running the club asked rene to help throw them out. rene agreed and went on to kick them out but ended up hurting a few of them.
rene has a a lot of power and more to offer but is a bit short on discpline and brains.
Have your say
