CUT continue top form

CUT picked up their second successive win as they beat UKZN 30-10 in the second round of the Varsity Shield on Thursday.

The defending champions were reduced to 14 men after No 8 Ruan Hugo was red carded, but they still went on to defeat Impis in Maritzburg. Hooker Baksteen van Heerden, wing Nico Steenkamp and skipper and flyhalf Inus Kritzinger capitalised on impressive CUT attacking play to seal the win.

Meanwhile, in Johannesburg, Wits crossed the chalk eight times to trash Fort Hare 58-16. Wits wing Riaan Arends grabbed a brace in the 42-point drubbing.
