Williams to hang up boots for good

Former Wales wing Shane Williams will retire from all rugby at the end of the European season.

The 34-year-old ended his Test career against the Wallabies in Cardiff last December. He then signed a contract extension with his club Ospreys until the end of the 2013 season, but both parties have agreed to release the veteran from the deal a year early.

Ospreys have announced that Williams will then take up an ambassadorial role at the club, where he ‘will promote rugby in and around the region whilst also working in conjunction with the Ospreys’ existing and future commercial partners’.
