Blues big guns get hit out
9 Feb 2012
The Blues have named a clutch of All Blacks in their starting XV to face the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday.
Interestingly Piri Weepu starts at flyhalf and is expected to be utilised there at times during their campaign. ‘If we’re going to try Piri at 10, now is the time to do it and we’ll see how he goes. Michael Hobbs and Gareth Anscombe both did well at 10 last week so now it’s a chance for Piri,’ said head coach Pat Lam.
There are run ons for Isaia Toeava and Ali Williams at fullback and lock respectively, as well as flanker Daniel Braid whose 2011 season was stifled by injury.
