Blues rally past Rebels
11 Feb 2012
The Blues fought back from a 18-7 half-time deficit to beat the Rebels 31-21 in Melbourne.
English flyhalf Danny Cipriani starred in the first half of the pre-season match as he spearheaded the Rebels’ assault that troubled the Blues regularly. It was his break that put winger Cooper Vuna through for the first try while his cross kick set up wing Mark Gerrard out wide for an early 15-0 lead.
Blues speedster Sherwin Stowers chased down a chip ahead to score, but his team still trailed 18-7 at the break.
The Auckland franchise then completed a great comeback with tries from fullback Isaia Toeava (2) and hooker Tom McCartney.
