Stormers clout Kings

Stormers clout Kings

The Stormers stuttered then fired to beat the Kings 38-13 in Port Elizabeth.

The Stormers struggled to find their groove in the first half (they led 12-10 at the break) although it would be remiss not to credit the Kings for a determined defensive effort.

The Stormers struggled to get any flow into their attack thanks to a dogged effort from their hosts at the breakdown. However, the Cape side’s superiority came to the fore in the second, with Nick Koster and Jean de Villiers touching down within the third quarter.

The Stormers then wore them down through numerous phases before Joe Pietersen crossed the chalk and Pietersen turned provider for De Villiers shortly thereafter.

The Bryan Habana experiment at No 13 looked promising, the Springbok breaking through a gap and setting Pietersen away for a try in the second half. Siya Kolisi and Burton Francis rounded off the scoring with late five pointers.

    Good hit-out :-)

    Stormers and Bulls will be the ones to fight it out for top spot in the confluence, imo.

    appropriate neither Burger nor Watson were playing else who knows what the final outcome may have resulted?

    @Michael-3: the Bulls and Stormers are more than welcome to fight it out for top spot in the “confluence” (the place where 2 rivers meet…). The Sharks will be at the top of the CONFERENCE. :lol:

    Actually, I think the Bulls and Stormers are in for a tough Super campaign.

    @ashampoopaloo-5: Watson is a mouse compared to Burger. No contest.

    Five media awards and they write rubbish like…

    “However, the Cape side’s superiority came to the fore in the second, with Nick Koster and Jean de Villiers touching down within the third quarter…:

    The Cape side?

    And there I was thinking Port Elizabeth was the capital of the Eastern Cape.

    Silly me for forgetting that keo journos are so Western Cape-centric they struggle to comprehend that there’s a world beyond their mountains and icy sea.

    A bit like the Flat Earth Society folk, come to think of it.

    @wooden spoon-7: says woody woodpecker pecking on his ****** out there in far off old mother Hubbard’s Disneyland

    you wouldn’t know a mouse from a mole from a rat from a bat from a shrew from a hamster from a kangaroo

    I saw on the telly just yesterday Watson’s portfolio

    Captained SA schools, captained Boks u 19′s, captained Boks u 21′s, captained WP and Stormers, captained Bath, captained EP Kings

    only dunces that cannot recognize a leader when they see one is schmucks such as toffee nosed marsupials such as you.., and Jake White the fakeass schmuck.., and how many others..?

    Burger is nowhere near the capacity and leadership credential and capability that Watson possesses…, and if ever there was the ultimate crime of coaches pet favoritism injustice meted out on a particular player for non rugby reasons… the White protectionism favoritism racket fiasco against Watson takes the ultimate cake.. and schmuckass moronic idiots the likes of you sucked it up and continue to suck it up whole…

    @Hondo-2: A below par performance by a languid Stormers side against unworthy opponents. Accurate and honest.

    @Michael-3: Stormers are a side on decline. They have poor compositon amongst their backs, a poor head coach and backs coach, a pap front row. Minus Nienaber there has been nothing good going on here since 2001. They lack the means to stay ahead of the curve and are thusly going to pay the price.

    @ashampoopaloo-9: Watson was the weak link in the Stormers loose trio all the time there and failed to deliver even one worthy contribution in all of his ten handout tests. Only a dunce, as you put it, would rate Watson as anything more than a wannabe half-back. Watson struggles mainly because he cannot be in two places at once. His ultimate plan is to play off himself to set-himself up for belly-flop tries and be hailed the Zeus of Cape Town. What he lack as a player he makes up in arrogance and discord. Useless to the core.

    @ashampoopaloo-9: Jake White by the way is one of the best and most respected coaches in the game! He made his position known on Watson’s playing ability and was proven right in 2007 when, after being added in by Hoskins, he was humiliated against Samoa in a game that was a fetcher’s dream. No leadership, no playing ability. Jake was correct. Only the dunce Peter dom Failures tried to make a point and select Watson, but low and behold even the thickest and worst coach in rugby history could see that Watson was nothing and dropped him after a disastrous 2008 TNs where Watson was brutally exposed. Listen, I know you worked hard on that clown performance, but please do yourself a favour and sober up. Your bleating was obsolete as far back as late 2006.

    @ashampoopaloo-9:

    In typical Oompa-poopa logic of ‘one man taking the blame’ for 22 players… every senior team Luke Watson has captained has had it’s worst years and then the year he has left they’ve improved dramatically!

    Bath and the Stormers a case in point!

    Kings? Useless, as usual.

    Stoermers? Dead men walking. Bottom 4 finish in S15.

    hehehe…

    “Burger is nowhere near the capacity and leadership credential and capability that Watson possesses”

    oh yeah…? according to who…? you…?

    Sheesh Skop… there you go again… demonstrating just how one-eyed and biased you are…. And the fact that you simply just hate schalk burger… quite what for I don’t think even you know…

    So luke’s your hero because he captained those sides…? And only a dunce wouldn’t recognize him as a leader…?

    Schalk Burger has also captained all the sides he’s played for… from school through U21 to wp and stormers… So… by your own measurement… only a dunce wouldn’t recognize schalk as a leader…

    Luke Watson captained WP and Stormers in the period that Schalk Burger had broken his neck… and while I won’t, like you, make absolutes of hypothetical situations… it is unlikely Watson would have captained them if Schalk had not broken his neck…

    In addition…

    Schalk was Young SA Rugby Player of the Year nominee in 2003 & 2004
    SA Rugby Player of the Year in 2004 & 2011
    And IRB Player of the Year in 2004
    And he holds the record for most tries in tests as a Springbok flank (11) with Juan Smith;
    And is the most capped Springbok flank (66).
    And Schalk played for the boks at the world cup in 2003 without having played s15 rugby…

    yeah… the guy is obviously nowhere near the capacity and leadership credential and capability that Watson possesses…

    :lol:

    I’m not saying watson is a bad rugby player or leader… he obviously excels at both…

    But it’s amazing that to you, one walks on water… while the other is a useless no-good schmuck…

    Were you at the Stadium in PE yesterday to witness this “below par” performance?

  • 21.Robzim: Reply to this comment

    @Alucard-11:

    Your “assessment” of Alister C as a coach contradicts the view of your hero Jake White (see your own post #13) who has a very high regard for Alister as coach and has also stated in public that he (AC) should have been given the Bok head coach position in 2007 already.

    My point is that if you quote White ( according to you “one of the best and most respected coaches in the game”) to support your view that Watson is so bad , then why do you not support his (White’s) views on the credentials of AC as head coach?

    Why would he be right on Luke but wrong on AC?
